It has become a usual story in mumbai. Everytime government say that they take all the required steps to avoid this but again the same repeats and the govt. is well now if the trains get stopped then we just cant imagine mumbai. I seriously get a thought some times that why govt. take steps of vacating land near by sea and develop mumbai towards other sides and i really dont understand why even people dont move out from dangerous areas near the sea and come more towards vashi and other suburban areas. Its the truth that mumbai really got filled up with excessive people and i suggest the outsiders of mumbai think twice before getting inside of mumbai and it is better to stay in suburbs as it will make life bit easy for mumbaikers who are inside the city and cannot move out. I request all mumbaikers...please this time ask the politisians before casting vote for them and take in writing on stamp papers for better drainage and roads and other ammunities and if they dont respond after coming in power then just file a case in courts.
The rains have yet again paralysed Mumbai city. Besides having dedicated and honest politicians we need responsible citizens. Or else how do you justify the Indian civic sense of "Keep your house clean and shove the dirt at the neighbours" Our rich and middle class people have travelled throughout the world and seen for themselves how cities are maintained. They know how to refrain from being a dirty Indian when they are globetrotting but when they come back to the motherland they become the same dirty Indians. The only way to improve us is for the government to heavily penalise people who lack civic sense and who are irresponsible citizens in every other way. Come on government departments this is a new way for you to earn revenue and also to line the pockets of the authorities.

Hey Alwyn bud, we employ a Civic corporation to maintain and upkeep the city! Lets get work done from them first! Most of them are busy trying to make money under the table rather than work! After slogging your balls off to make two ends meet you think you are in a mood to get down with a broom to clean your housing society or the city? Be practical. There are people designated to do each activity in Society and they better do it!

Very true. While citizens should lend a hand in improving civic services, what do our civic fathers do - they undertake million dollar visits to the best tourist spots in the world, Las Vegas, Paris, Bangkok and Hongkong, to "study" civic amenities and maintenance of civic infrastructure and end up improving their own financial and physical infrastructure. Nothing ever gets done for the common man. What has happened to the famous plan to clean up the Mithi river and remove the blockages resulting in yearly floods? No one will remember this, but our politicians and bureaucrats and contractors will grow fatter out of funds meant for the civic welfare. The thing is our politicians and civic leaders do not aim to become role models for the citizen, instead they set a bad example in corrucption, nepotism and double-dealing to cheat the common man out of his right to better amenities! When will the common man rise against such human vampires?

I give you the option. Ask somebody to prepare a cup of hot kaaapi and sit on your favorite armchair and enjoy the kaapi and tv. From time to time luk outside your window and savour the rain. This country is led by people with mediocre intelligence and animal quality which is nothing but a result of 60 years of reservation. If you wish to make this country a better India and this city too, you know now what to do!
Its high time people of Mumbai and other cities to seriously think about rainwater harvesting. The Govt can not do any thing in this matter as it depends on peoples will. Former CM of AP, Chandrabau naidu tried to implement this but lack of support from people stalled the process. Now people of Hyderbad and other cities are suffering whenever there is rain.

We will first try with Amitabh and Aamir who are basically farmers. They will harvest first and then teach others how to harvest. If anybody else has a better idea pleas come out with it.

Both of them are poor farmers from UP, who know only to grow mangoes. May not be of much use in rain harvesting. But well be of help in digging up wells.
stop making movies and come out onto streets and help clean the city. most bollywood films are shot abroad as mumbai scenery is become too dirty nowadays.

the trouble is you dont like illegal bangladeshi migrants but you like the bangladeshis in the dance bars!!!
I think this is really shamefull for city like mumbai which is Finanacial Capital of India. I mean every year BMC promises that there wont be any problem when it will rain, but every year they fail to cop up with slight rain also. Especially central railways situation is very bad. They say central railway will get down even if somebody does the toilets. Really bad look at Western railway even after this heavy rain they are still running, they are running late but still they are runing. Thats the main point.

IT IS INDEED VERY TRUE. BMC LIKE OUR MINISTERS ONLY GIVES PROMISE BECAUSE THAT IS THE EASIEST THING IN THE WORLD. THEY CAN ONLY COLLECT MONEY FROM THE PUBLIC AND DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. MUMBAI SHOULD LEARN FROM CITIES LIKE SINGAPORE. IT IS A VERY BIG SHAME FOR THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMIC CAPITAL . LOTS OF CHANGES ARE REURIED FROM THE TOP AND JUDICIARY IS ALSO TO BLAME. JUDICIARY IS SO SLOW . IF A PERSON IS CHARGED HE SHOULD BE IMMEDIETELY PUNISHED LIKE HOW THE CHINESE DO. THERE SHOULD NOT BE HUMAN RIGHTS TO PEOPLE WHO DOES VIOLATE ALL THE TIME HUMAN RIGHTS.

It is not at all shameful for Mumbai. MUmbai is proud to be the Financial Capital of India. If anybody should be shameful it is Sonia and her jokers who have deprived the city of its development since 1947!!!

The Good Old Mumbai, home to Konkani fishermen and enterprising Gujarathi & Marwari businessmen went to the Maharashtrian, who dont know where to spit their tobacco juice, or how to clean their back yard.
Bombay was dead far far back. Either Mumbai has to be separated from Maharashtra or it should be given to Gujarat.

thats a load of nonsense about mumbai's corporate tax contribution ,which i have been hearing for years. The fact is many corporations are headquatered in mumbai but have factories all over india and all over the world. so tata has factories in places like bihar and jharkhand and tea gardens in the north east. most of the income for these companies comes from places outside bombay. so lets stop blowing mumbai's contribution out of propertion

i think u r one extremist frustrated individual out of many who are rotting the atmosphere of the country.
Help Save Mumbai & Mumbaikars from the rains. Our Government as every year has failed. Help us save open lands. Help save the Uttan- Gorai Belt from becoming a SEZ Zone. Keep some open space for the waters to flow or else we will have the same and much more problems in the future. Help save Mother Earth from the our selfish Politciains who them selves stay in very POSH houses all at the cost of our incomes .
