When i read all these bolggers comment here i feel this.
all people here talk bad about Nehur shows that they hate him, why arent they fail to understand thats past that should be used as the rearview mirror and nothing more. Nehru did many blunders but we must also understand that he had many other priorities, like running a big young couuntry with many issues unemployement, poverty, regional, communist, religion, famine and so many issues on top of that the british devised a real cuning plan if the INdians were able to find a solution for all these they sepearted Indian on religion and created two country, which we are facing it today.
Its also said that he spearheaded Redtape type of govt, he was ready to invite top business men from US and west, all of them made fun of INdian Democracy and was waiting for India to fail. Inspite of being democracy they helped pakistan and China not India because we challenged the ANglos saxian supermacy and refused to accept it. SO please stop complainig about Nehru, yes he has made some blunders but has done things to the extent possible with the available resources

yess ss .. u r right, Nehru's contribution was so much that Atomic reserach and Uranium and plutonium mines were discovered by a visiting american team with their President way back in 1952-56. And your great Nehru didn't even allow scientists to vist the place. Thats why Mr. Hargovind Khurana, the noted scientist, had to migrate to USA because your Nehru was laying the foundation of Modern India and ignored the scientist plea to provide him with just Rs 4 Lakhs. So now, u agree or not, u know the reason of great works. One thing your Nehru was really good at mounting on the wife of Lord Mountbatten, although before Independence.

Dear Shivkumar, I appreciate if you write separate article, may be as many despatches as possible and get it published in Rediff. You will do yeoman service to this country and this may help avoid family rule the country in future and name all the places in the country within the family without respecting other PMs.
Such things will repeat against till we are a humble country. Then china did it, now we have other neighbours doing the same and we humbly accept. Till we are humble and with politians dividing our countrymen nothing can improve upon.

we, Indians, were transformed into cowardies by the great leader called "M.K.Gandhi" who forced us to follow "Ahimsa" & "Sathyagraha". By this, MKG cleverly broken the backbone of Indian's braveness and guts. think about 1999/Dec Indian Airlines hijack and think about 2000/Dec Parliment attack; these two cases are the best example on how Indians will bow down to the terrorists/enemies. We need brave leaders like NSC Bose, Vallabhai Patel.

Dragon cares ,i must mention u that both "M.K.Gandhi" and "NSC Bose, Vallabhai Patel" were all died 50yr ago .I dont think we gonna get leaders like them again with followers like you around we only gonna get leaders like "sonia gandhi or Nerendra modi"...

Hello dear It's the intelligent, clever and bold person in you speaking like this. But the wise, Mature, and morally courageous humans think like Gandhiji. Your comments are immature.Because the good are suffering you can't confirm that the bad are better. You have a wrong word 'Humble'with you. It is not humbleness but meekness. Meekness is not weakness but it is power under control.Got it!
The Nehru dynasty still continues even today and probably for few more generations in to the future till such time people in India realize that this is not monarchy but a democracy in India with a veto power resting with the population to terminate a dynasty rule.. Only education can bring that awareness.. Let us wait patiently till then. Jai Hind

who is stopping educated people from voting.Where else they gonna vote?in United states.Educated people will crib msg board, internet blogs but they wont go out on election day to cast their vote in neighbouring booths. Then they would cry foul about what statesman like Nehru did under trying circumstances. We continue to do so,but i am sure we all its not going to solve any problem.A week ago all the business news channel celebrated as mumbai became top 10 finalcial hub in the world, today 3days rain turned in to a flood hit area.

Call me cynical if you like, but it is a myth that our Vote is powerful. Sorry it is not. The rural vote is powerful and the present day politicians know how to extract that. Some candidates loosing in urban areas does not matter to Political parties.
LOOK WHAT HAPPEND CANT BE UNDONE ITS HIGH TIME NOW THAT OUR DIPLOMATS AND THE USELESS POLITICANS SHOW SOME STOMACH AND PROPEL INDIA TOWARDS AN ERA OF SELF RELIANCE AND NOT TO BE DICTATED BY THE USA OR ANY OTHER POWER. BUT SAD THATS IN OUR GENES THATS WHY WE WERE RULED AND MADE SLAVES BY INVADERS AND BRITS.
I JUST HOPE THE BEST FOR MY COUNTRY. FINALLY IT DEPENDS UPON US

It was done by Nehru and so the Congress will easily forget it. Just see, the spineless Congress has not reacted to this issue at all. The Congress is capable of only hurting Hindus and not in saving the country from external threats.

Congress wants to hurt Hindus because their leaders Indira was married to a Muslim, both deliveries were thus Muslims, married to Christian (Sonia) ... where from u get this irrational logic of Congress thinking for Hindus!!! And the supporters of Congress, they are all snakes in the form of polished Sycophants.
This CIA reminder was no doubt timed to remind Bharat of the ever present threat of China. Hearing the inannities from Dr Singh you would think nothing has changed from the days of Nehru.
As before hostile Chinese activities are deliberately being ignored. Congress under Singh is just as spell bound except that unlike before, China is not claiming the maps are old and dated but now have the cheek to claim Arunchal Pradesh as well! If Nehru was plain bad there is no word to describe the present Government. Pathetic is not strong enough.
The Government has desisted from making plains its displeasure because of contracts Indian companies have been securing in China. The plain truth is China's claim on Arunchal Pradesh has followed as logical continuation of its illegal occupation of Tibet. It was that too clever by half Tibet declaration by Vajpayee that has taken us on this slippery rope. Yet Vajpayee is supposed to be other hope for India after Dr Singh.
With calibre of leaders Bharat is producing, we would be better of being run by America. The likes of Dr Singh and Vajpayee have been just too dangerous for the health of Bharat. I am sorry for Bharat's diplomats who have to repair all the damage caused by our so called leaders. It is about time the armed forces stepped in and made good the deficiency in the only way they know how.

I totally agree with you Man.
Dr Singh is a good economist but not a good leader and lacks will power.
Nehru was another day - dreamer who was more interested in Lady Mountabatten and NAM then in the realpolitik of the world.
Our brave army in 1962 fought with 303 rifles and bare hands against entrenched Chinese because our CONGRESSI NETAS were too busy tying their dhotis and ignoring reality.
I have always maintained that CONGRESS is the CANCER of India and I think the day the electorate becomes educated these BS netas will be history.
However to end on an inspiring note please click on the link here to know the inspiring story of Major Shaitan Singh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaitan_Singh

Pakistan has hardly done badly out of all this. In what other period of history has a country that has been the fountainhead of terrorism been rewarded with billions in aid and lucrative market opportunties? Rome destroyed Carthage for much less.
I am afraid our Hinduism of our priestly class going around with their begging bowls has made it quite natural for our leaders to be beggers. This is all too apparent in the negotiations for the nuclear deal and Arunchal Pradesh.
The fact remains that except for Sikhism, the Hindu polity is fragmented by virtue of the fragmentation of the Hindu religion. What exactly do we get from Hinduism religious tenets in comparison? Caste divides and the better of lording themselves over the unfortunates without any care in the world.
In other ancient religions, the temple was the sacred treasury of the nation which provided for it in its hour of need. Their kings were usually at the heads of the religions. As such concepts is absent in Hinduism, is it any wonder that are politicians are corrupt?
The oracles of the priests at Delphi contributed decisively to Greek success. Our politicians have relied on solely on astrology which has been a poor substitute.
The Greeks recognised the dangers of religion divorced from politics by giving primacy to politics. Indeed the Greek king was shorn of all political power but only allowed to retain his position as chief of the priests.
What a waste.... This article just goes onto prove which we always knew... Nehru was a stupid guy and the worst thing to happen to India (well.. Indira marrying a Gandhi would also qualify as the worst thing that happened to India.). I just pray, all the Indians realize this and stop stooping in front of the Gandhi family !!!
Nehru family has been the biggest disaster for India. God alone knows when will it come to an end or when will it decide to stop ruling this country. RIP
