RE:Nehru family is taking India for a ride!

why don't you enjoy the ride and make the most of it?
Chillies Hanging... in ASS is absolutely the right phrase to describe our efforts. we were never even bold to have faceoffs then or for that matter now. if we r convinved that these r our regions let us be bold in talking about it to the world and also showing enough signs that we mean what we say!!! i have not yet noticed, besides Indira Gandhi and Atalji anybody else who have even tried to venture in any kind of diplomatic extremism.
It's well known fact that Nehru made a blunder in 1962 which not only demoralised him to death bed but hit hard at the nation's psyche. It's a shame how some of our communists friends still believe that it is India who started the war.Communists and their ideology is as detrimental as the Talibaans.Just imagine what could have been if the wild fantasies of our misguided youths during Naxal movement became a reality.
For the benifit of the world we need to align with the US without any inhibition and with sound diplomacy.Though a section of us feels it crazy to align with white skinned people, just think if britishers did not come to india, we would have remained much like Afganisthan today.

i take grave objection to the phrase "just think if britishers did not come to india, we would have remained much like Afganisthan today.".What does it suggest? Our 2000yr indian civilisation became modern because Britishers, god,i cant believe educated people have such misconception about our history and our history.Mr kamal, irresptive of ur religion ,i am sure u suffer from huge lack of indianess. But not everything is lost, give urself some time to discover india .

Typical Indian 21st century obsession: live, talk, speak, think like the Americans. Side the Americans, align with them? If it's done, without any doubt it'd remain the biggest blunder in India's history. Can't you do something for the benefit of the world by just being yourself? If one is so dying to align with someone, why not openly announce and align with the emerging Russians, the ex-Soviets who were on our side through thick and thin?

there goes two fools ready to become slaves - one to americans and the other to russians. dont u guys want to stand up on your own, always needing clutches. no wonder India was pillaged by one and all - right from the muslim invaders, moghuls, britishers and now the jihadists and communists. please have more faith in yourselves and see what wonders we as Indians can do without anyone's help.
not being strong enough militarily was stupidity. even now, the army does not have enough relevance, due to excessive indulgence and interference of politicians.
nehru had some ideas which he thought were good, but proved wrong later. panchsheel was good on paper, but with hostile neighbors, it clearly was not enough.
being proactive about security is not being aggressive. being aggressive is interfering into others matters excessively, like how china is about arunachal pradesh now, and how pakistan is about kashmir, punjab etc etc. even bangladesh is aggressive with thier smallish army routinely committing excesses. we need to be proactive now , and also in the future. give army its relevance.

May I know when we will have aircraft carrier again? And when russians will give enough bribe to indians so that they can take decision?
Come on. Y is US telling now... Understand the motive behind.....Whose interest is to keep to upcoming nations to be hostile...
Yes, Nehru was the biggest bane for India but what can be done now? he is History so r Chinese leader of that time....We were exploited by everybody in history staring from Arab...European... Chinese...Americans...etc.
What is the point of remembering those things. We cant take revenge from everybody. Lets work with new ecosystem..

We have to remember now because what happened 45 years may happen again. It is not without reason that it has been said that those who forget history are forced to repeat it. The Chinese now claim that entire Arunachal Pradesh is theirs. And we have yet another spineless dithering Government in power. We never learnt from history and we suffered. Do you want history to repeat itsef? We have no USSR behind us now.

CIA is and was a US spy agency guided by US interest ,also own agencys interest.Lets not give too much attention to it.We have this habit of going wild everytime CIA or FBI archive goes public.Spy agency often time make wild allegations and assumption ,like the that Iraq has weapon of mass Destruction which led to Americal invasition ,later proved utter false and motived by Bush jr own personal desire to take Sadam down.More over if u read about CIA and FBI now disclosed classified file famous american heros John F kennedy and brother Robert Kennedy also Beatle lead singer John Lennon which describe in utmost negative light that even Americans themselves dont give too much attentionto what CIA say ,so why we indian do believe what CIA says about our leaders.

Actually, Jawaharlal Nehru was a very timid person unlike Indira Gandhi. Nehru showed all courage in mowing down his rivals in India and was very timid in his external dealings. Indira had no such limitations.

Had Sardar Patel been the first PM of Independent India (as demanded by the princely states which joined to form the Indian union), we wouldn't have had such problems like Pakistan occupying Our Kashmir or the Chinese (Cheeni Kumeene) taking us for a ride by chanting "Hindi Cheeni Bhai Bhai".

Gopalan,
I don't agree with you.
Nehru was a conniving lawyer who through the years of his involvement in the freedom struggle had a lot of time to study the British model of administrating a foreign country with distinct social, ethnic, regional and language differences. Case in point, Why did the Congress party continue using archaic British laws and systems to govern India after Independence? Simply because the model worked so well for the British!
Nehru had had a lot of success with his glib talk and charisma among the Indian masses (and not to mention, Lady Mountbatten in his autumn years). He thought he could do the same with the Chinese because he was already in bed with the Indian communists in the name of Socialism.
But the Chinese proved much smarter that they looked. They used the same glib talk with him to con him to the very end!!
Indira took over a legacy assignment. What limited or didn't limit her is irrelevant in the context of the Sino-Indian WAR of 1962.
Media should give importance this news and all people should know other side of Nehru and his family. I request the media people like press, news channels to raise the matter widely so that the message should reach all the common people especially the rural & illetrate people.

Our media is full of Communist admirers, who will go to any extent to protect the Reds. Let us not delude ourselves.
All said and done, let's not forget that all these so-called de-classified documents are not some words of god or some age-old scriptures like vedas. They only speak about what the CIA thought was happening around the world at that time. Whether or not there's any truth in those documents, it's always better to take whatever the CIA or the Americans say with a pinch of salt.

I think release of this information by US is very timely. During 50's China's supremo Zhou considered Nehru as a meek and characterless leader. They cunnignly convinced Nehru that they didn't have any treacherous plans to occupy Indian territories, but they did in 1962. The similar situation is about to repeat now. While China is re-claiming Arunachal Pradesh as their own land, our dumb PM Manmohan wants peaceful ties with China. Its a wake up call for India to prevent a possible threat from arrogant and mean Chinese govt.
First and foremost thing is to ban Communist parties of India if they sing to Chinese tunes like they did in 60s.

by kskumar on Jun 29, 2007 07:17 PM Permalink
It does not require a de-classified CIA document to know what happened in 1962. The most unfortunate thing is the Communists who sided with Chinese in 1962 are still unrepentant. They should have been thrown out of power on that count alone. Unfortunately, the main stream media and the self-styled intellectuals [who hog media space] glorify these people. So we are stuck with such unworthy people.

Mr Jyoti Basu completely deindustrialized West Bengal during his period of influence -- first as leader of the opposition and later as Chief Minister. I am now inclined to believe that he did this at the order of his Chinese masters.

There were thousands and thousands of indian soldiers murdered by the callous chinese simply because the Indian soldiers were not given a go ahead by the prime minister to defend against the offensive of chinese. The response for defending came very late until the time Chinese had taken over most of our land called Laddakh.
I believe all these people who are mentioning that India and china never had any enemity have absolutely no knowledge about our past. They are just placeholders and parasites on the Great Bharat Mata.
