may be it was in the intrest of the country
by on Jul 02, 2007 04:05 PM  Permalink

I believe , distribution of the recorded content of the telephonic conversation between Musharraf and Aziz helped India save lot of blood shed, also this helped India to make the whole world understand the fact that infiltration at Kargil is not a war of Independence but an aggression on Indian soil by regular Pakistani army.
In the past also Indian agencies have been talking a lot about the Pak funded and trained terrorism and terrorists respectively, but every time US and other members of world community would ask for more concrete evidence .
And this taped conversation simply proved Indian point.
Also the criticism of then present Indian government about how it dealt with Nawaz through Reliance man Mr Mishra but not through RAW.... I wonder how can Mr V. K singh even imagine of conveying the message to then PAk PM Nawaz through RAW, ofcorse it was to be done by someone on whom Military intelligence of pakistan had very little chance of doubting. I am sorry to say but i am much saddened by the idea of My V.K singh publishing his book about and on Indian Intelligence failures .
he was simply heading the technical division of RAW , which may be was offered to him through Akali connection,,,,, now I am not aware of the fact, but then as Mr Singh has leveled allegations on the working of then present govt and agencies I being a free citizen of free India also have the equal right to voice my concern and opinions on the issues of national intrest.
And my ultimate opinion is that

A certain unnecessary entry - %u1029 - may be instead of an aphostrp (': like RAW's) - causes irritation in reading. This also affects other text matters of Rediff. Please take care of.
Sincerely yours,
Rabi Kanungo.

Kargil Tapes
by vinay singh on Jun 30, 2007 02:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Reference the the comments of B Raman on my book. Of course, he is entitled to his views as I am to mine. I would not like to join issue, except on the matter concerning the Kargil tapes, which he calls %u2018the greatest PSYWAR coup ever scored by the R&AW in its history%u2019.
Firstly, RAW%u2019s job is to collect intelligence, and not psywar. It only corroborated the Army%u2019s contention that regular soldiers of the Pak Army were involved. The fact that there were differences between Nawaz Sharif and the Service Chiefs was an useful piece of intelligence, that is all. How does it become psy war?
He goes on to say that the decision of the government to publicise the intercept had beneficial effects, such as convincing USA and China of Pak%u2019s complicity and damaging her credibility. Are India and Pakistan school children and USA and China headmasters that we have to complain against each other to them?
What about the damage to our intelligence capability? He says that the flow of intelligence could have dried up temporarily. Just what does this mean? One year, ten years or more? No one knows how much more intelligence we could have got on that link.
He feels the decision helped to exert pressure on Pak to withdraw and prevented loss of further lives. I do not agree. Pakistan withdrew because the Indian Army threw them out, period.
One last thing. Two RAW officers, Rabinder Singh and Brigadier Ujjal Das Gupta have been charged with giving away intelligence held by RAW to USA, in violat

Unfortunately our Indian Armed Forces are a mix of men from all over the vast country. Nationalism is the only thing that has to be pumped into their veins. Any other concepts or criteria allowed into their lives will produce these back stabbers. Enemy looks around for such people and buys them...ultimately money hunger , a third world malady takes precedence.....a tricky situation to run the fighting forces.

The motto should be - WE ARE ONE AND WE WILL DIE FOR OUR COUNTRY !

Not color , caste, creed, religion, food habits. They are to be modified and unified.

Forces of West, East, Northern parts of the globe are more single branded unlike ours.

Stop writing nonsense. Taj Mahal belongs to India , so what if a Muslim emperor of India built it. Taj Mahal is the pride of India.

It is sickening to hear Suresh Roy's comment. Please stop spreading hate and spread Love instead. Taj Mahal is a symbol of Love.

Masterpiece or blunder?
by samit vats on Jun 29, 2007 02:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How to decide it was Masterpiece or blunder?

Most of the Intelligence agencies in the World CIA,MI5 etc. must be knowing that time that intruders were not mujahideen as was claimed by pakistanis but specially trained commandos of pak army for kargil operation.

Pak army provides trainig to jihadis and funds come from all over the world for jihad-e-kashmir is known to everyone in the international community.

Many people in Pakistani media, politics and "establishment" accept that Kargil was blunder and nothing was achieved after losing so many lives.Infact it has dented the claim that insurgency is indigenous in kashmir.

As far as Musharraf's Tapes are concerned, he has not got any bad name. Infact today he is the darling of the west. Today he is fighting same mujahideen(At the pak-afghan border) whom he was commanding at the heights of Kargil.

totally unnecessary
by arunachalam on Jun 29, 2007 08:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Disclosing RAW transcripts and wire tapping information to the world did not and will not do any good to INDIA whatsoever as long as the Pakis remain a puppet of the US. The project themselves as warriors and shit..but are basically 12 year old girls who dance to the tunes of Uncle SAM..

RAW must be a ruthless, stealthy, covert and reclusive organization like the CIA whose activities are known only 30 years after they happened..RAW must never be subject tot he scrutiny of the dick-head politicians especially congress politicians..

RAW must function independently and with full immunity even at the cost of lives because the greater good will justify the means.
