Selection of these MET dept people are on the basis of quota system .Government is simply wasting our hard money in MET department. They must close down the department. I dont know from where they collect the data for prediction. I think they even dont know how to read sattelite pictures.

Majority of those MET Guys are Scientists from UP and Bihar. They have Central Exams and they are given preference like in Railways by their Commune Ministers in Centre. They just go our see the Clouds and evaluate the situation. God Save us!!

u r used to the efficiency of mumbai city in all the infrastructure she has....give the MET guys a break. Even in the US the predictions don't get so close....btw, you can read satellite pictures?
the technic of MET is that when it starts pouring for more than 3-4 hours in a day, those people do skywatch for sometime and predict that within another 24 hours there would be downpoors... In fact MET is a biggest waste of money and facilities..those people have never ever given a correct advance indication of any weather forecast in my memory...idiots to the core
The weather man says its going to rain it does not... when he says its not going to rain it does. Weather man go home take a break and enjoy the rain when it comes.

Yes, You are right. The MET dept needs good rest. They cannot predict anything true !!! I think we can depend on CNN's Weather forecast - (Still People say, INDIA is good - but the best people are working in ABROAD !)
Every year, we expereince such a heavy rain in Mumbai. But surrisingly, still we are not equipped to handle the situtaion arise due to heavy rains. If one working day get paralysed due to rain, then millions of millions ruppes goes in to vain which directly affect our Economy. Govt. should take a serious note of consequences and they should come up with permanent solution

Nature is beyond the control of mankind. There is no measure by which we can come out with a PERMANENT SOLUTION to handle the situation arising out of natural calamities. We can only tackle the situation to some extent.
