President should be independent not of any political party. If either of them will be selected is not going to make a difference . If it would have been a personality like ABDUL KALAM certainly we could vote in the opinion poll. This opinion poll choice less. So can't help have to choose one.
OUR COUNTRY GOT THE FREEDOM BY A BACK-DOOR METHOD AND THE CONSTITUTION WAS DRAFTED IN A HURRY.HAD THE LIBERATION COME AFTER A REAL FIGHT WITH THE BRITISH IN WHICH TOTAL POPULATION OF THE COUNTRY TAKEN A PART, THEN THE CONSTITUTION WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY PEOPL-ORIENTED. THE CONGRESS DOMINATED THE POLITICS AT THOSE CRUCIAL HOUR AND IT PLAYED THE SAME IMPORTANT ROLE FOR NEXT TWO DECADES. AT CERTAIN TIME IT ALMOST BECAME A SINGLE FAMILY MATTER IN DECIDING MANY IMPORTANT THINGS. NOW WE HAVE COME SO LONG A WAY THAT THE PATH CANNOT BE RETRACED. BUT AT LEAST WE CAN START FROM THE BASICS AGAIN. WE CAN CLEANSE THE POLITICAL ATMOSPHERE OF THE COUNTRY. * THE ELECTED MLA/MP SHOULD HAVE MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION * HE SHOULD HAVE A MINIMUM RESPECT FROM THE PERSONS WHO KNOW HIM PERSONALLY FOR A LONG TIME. ITS A BAD LOGIC THAT EVEN A CRIMNAL GETS ELECTED BECAUSE THE CHARGES HAVE NOT BEEN PROVED IN COURT OF LAW ( COURT CASE CAN BE PROLONGED FOR ONE ENTIRE LIFE-TIME) *THERE SHOULD BE A CHECK ON THE LAVISH SPENDING ON ELECTION PROPAGANDA. THIS IS ROUTE OF MANY BAD THINGS. *REAL MASS OPINION SHOULD BE TAKEN FROM PUBLIC ON THE QUESTION " WHY GOOD RESPECTABLE PERSONS ARE NOT COMING FORWARD TO SERVE THE COUNTRY IN SELF-LESS MANNER ? WHY IT SHOULD BE PARTY-ORIENTED NOT INDIVIDUAL ORIENTED?" Arjun Singh, his colleague in the police force has told the Hindi weekly how Shekhawat with three others were the perfect example of "criminals in uniform" and how they had all bargained their way out of the force.
More serious charges have also come out about Shekhawat as the Opposition Leader of Rajasthan Assembly. He had written to then Chief Minister Harideo Joshi pleading for the release of a heroin smuggler who was operating on the Indo-Pakistan border and was caught in Barmer. Shekhawat even had to admit, when confronted on the floor of the House with the letter, that he did plead for the smuggler's release.
Another damaging revelation is about his association with a drug smuggler, Ashwini Bharadwaj, who claimed publicly that he had provided 12 jeeps for Shekhawat's election campaign and also funded the entire election campaign of his son-in-law Rajvi.
The son-in-law also has been involved in more than a couple of land scams, one involving over 250 bighas. When the matter came up before Shekhawat when he was the Chief Minister, he covered it up saying that matter had been referred to CBI and it had given his son-in-law a clean chit.
It is tragic how India can have foisted upon itself two such patently bad candidates for President. It may be too late for this poll but there should be a people's movement to permit an option on the Presidential poll to vote for none of the candidates. That way the bad candidates can be ruled out and the parties will be forced to come up with better candidates.

With his heavy boot and British Lathi, along with his British Masters, he tried to crush India Freedom Struggle. Hunting down freedom fighters like dogs. Breaking backbones of the Satyagrahis.
With his great body, iron nailed boots and British Lathi he pounded on the chest of our motherland Bharat Mata.
Where was your your conscience, Mr Shekhawat?
How do you see your face in the mirror?
Don't you see blood eyed Bharat Mata crying in the mirror?
