Indian Government's Vacillating Stand
by Basant Maheshwari on Jun 22, 2007 07:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is depressing to note that Indian Government continues to hide from Parliament and Indian Public about India's stand vis a vis China's claim over Arunachal Pradesh. It is most unfortunate that the Government is not coming out clean on this issue. It is high time that Congress Government asks Indian Communists to spell out their stand on this issue.Lets see what have Karat,Yechury and others say on this issue.

It is totally unfortunate that our own govt. does not openly divulge all the details of international/internal policy matters. The indian public hardly knows anything on imp. matters. Dont know how we can change this...

Beat the Chinese wihout any compromise.

China understands and respects only one thing- capabilities to fight back. So they call in martial arts-it%u2019s easy to hit a brick or tree since they don't fight back. The Mongols under Genghis khan had similar land-grabbing policy and they went to the extent of building boats to go to Japan-where they faced the ultimate sword fighters and lost and that was the start of the demise.
Chinese will create more trouble when they gain strength and trouble starts with Taiwan, then India and Japan and Philippines over lands/islands. India needs to build good roads, ammunition dumps-because in a long war the Chinese will loose-supply will fail. US lost to China in Korean War because of failed supply.
Historically the Han Chinese are not great fighters, they can only spread fear with deception and brutal animal tactic. Great fighters hailed from Middle East, Japan, Europe...etc so get prepared and you won't realize how much scare you sent to these Chinese thugs.

In major US cities with big mainland Chinese population, we have been interacting with them over decades. Everyone has the same view. The moment you show respect or compromise to the mainland Chinese, he will ask for your head, otherwise he is the most scared reptile. They don%u2019t understand common human value or give and take equally. Even the Japanese, Korean, Thais, Filipinos in US cannot tolerate the mainland Chinese.

US Chinese spies have always been those who were accepted in American societies as our own *

hehea. what are you talking man. China has been the only asian country maybe along with thailand which was never conquered by/ruled by foreigners. Also I believe indian empire before british never ruled arunachal pradesh. You have the typical indian attitude of gloat that makes us loose. Indian army full of big burly sikhs looked at chinese army and remarked, "These chinkis sent kids to fight against us". But we stupid indians still lost badly. You know why? Chinese maybe smaller in build, but they work much more harder. Just see how their athletes perform in olympics. The day when we indians stop making fu of other people and start doing real stuff, we will be respected. The goal should be to make india prosperous. For these many years north east was ignored. why? Because, their culture is not part of core- indian culture. They are closer to tibet than india. The goal for india is to bring those people closer to mainstream. Putting a army will not help, if people themselves dont want india.

dude. dont get angry. India's first goal should be to make its people healthy, and have a better life. These politicians shift the focus towards other countries, and when we fight over china, pakisthan, myanmar, cheat us and rob all of our money. You should be more angry at our looting politicians than at other countries. The same game is played by both chinese and indian politicians to distract people from real problems. And we all for it. Millions of people are dying of hunger/ poverty/desease in china/india. Do you think a small piece of barren land in aksai chin, or arunachal pradesh is going to make any difference to any of those lives. Wwe are all being conned by these politicians man. Wake up. Wwhat do you think indian/chines politicians talk when they meet each other??? They are together in this game !! :D

well, opium wars etc did humulaite china. But british never conquered china and ruled it as an empire. Think abt it, it helps a lot of countries if emerging powers like china and india have a not so good relationship. Culturally, we are closer to chinese than to persians, americans etc.

Well Anand, you must be trying to be pragmatic. If somebody goes ahead with such argument you are basically promoting division of India. Secondly, why do you think China will stop at Arunachal Pradhesh? Unfortunately, you are forgetting Chinese army. Do you think they will go to a university department to find out a logic. If and when they are powerfull they will attack and take away land that is militarily strategic. Chinese may be great as you say, but that does not make us less great as you make us beleive. Whether you believe it or not, China being as vast country as it is, is an expansionist nation. How else would you explain the multibillion dollar defense budget of China which tells the world that it looks forward to a peacefull rise?

US Chinese spies have always been those who were accepted in American societies as our own socially respected -not those obviously fresh from China.

So pls think how to deal with these species. Realize that it is a human species and is smaller in size and is insecure and has a long history of deceptive war tactics-almost like a mongoose against a snake. You can really beat it! Surprise really sends them for cover.

what a joke. America was Pakisthan's main arms supplier before. As long as India has trouble with pakisthan, everybody will supply arms to make a profit and contain India. It was America back then, now its China, tomorrow it might be Japan, Iran whoever. Peace with pakisthan is the only solution.

the chinese demand for our land stems frm an arrogance, which unfortunately cannot be put down by a knee-jerk govt. like ours. but spking specifically about arunachal, there need be no doubt that the area legitimately belongs to china.

The need of hour is to strengthen the feeding lines to military stationed in Arunachal. Our soldiers were helpless in Tawang sector in the last war with China. Even proper roads, Rail, radio, TV, and military communication has to be impoved. Tawang is second to Lhasa for the people of Tibet and Dalai Lama. It is also strategically very important to protect the whole north-east. We (politicians & Policy makers)need to wake-up!

India is not lax o the Chinese issue
by Daipayan Das on Jun 22, 2007 03:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

While the author of this article has tried to highlight the fact that India's outlook and preparedness towards China has softened, specially more during AB Vajpayee's time and that his government didnot do anything and that present ministers are being very bold by making a few statements, the author seems to have forgotten how George Fernandes had openly proclaimed that China was the No. 1 enemy of India, that too at time when China was trying to speak very softly and serenely.
All the missile development programs of Agni category are specifically targetted towards China. Today, Indian army is much stronger in the hilly and jungle areas, given that they have been recently training US & UK soldiers on jungle warfare. The only think which would need strengthening is Infrastructure development in all the border areas.
India knows very well that the soft spoken chinese are far more dangerous than the rable-rousing pakistani establishment. China will never let go their attempts to totally acquire Arunachal Pradesh and have total control on Tibet. They will resort to any tacit means to do that.

if the indian army goes to take on the might of china with the sort of euphoria blurted out by u, they will get whipped royally. with no disrespect to the indian army, a military solution shud b the last option in self-defence when china is the aggressor.

read the chinese frame of mind first!
by Mayya Suresh on Jun 22, 2007 02:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Albiet late, Indians everywhere should try and read the Chinese mind. Chinese consider anybody other than chinese as their enemies. Ordinary chinese look down upon Indians. Chinese strategy is to appear close when they are far away and appear far when they are close by. The element of trust and all this economy centric friendship should be seen from the Taiwan lens. Even though Taiwan is the largest trading partner of China, China is preparing itself militarily to take over Taiwan. It is time India took some proactive measures and stop insulting poor Tibetians by looking other way when they look towards us for help. India should improve relations with all of Chinese neighbours including North Korea (firmly looking after its interest). Whether India wants it or not, war between India and China over Arunachal Pradhesh is imminent. Why not give the taste of thier own medicine by taking some pro-active measures not only on Arunachal Pradhesh but also in Tibet.
