As the sitting president, he should not contest election. He should accept the position only if thereis consensus among all parties , otherwise he should step down respecfully..
I am an Hard cor hindu but will say with pride Kalam is the one who bought the honour, respect and glory to Indian presideny. every other president respected him for his knowledge and honesty. This SONIA never thought of indian welfare and will never think also, she just want to be at the top getting glory 4 herself. Dear friends let us make groups to support kalam the only honest politician we had. NDA was really worried about the nation's welfare coz of which they bought kalam eventhough he was not giving them any kinda support, they bought right to informaion act whcih congress has already taken off, these people are bunch of selfish jokers. if they cant do anything for the nation let others like Dr. Kalam do
The simple and scholastic personality of Dr.Kalam has added a special stature to the titular head like Indian President, which was successfully upheld by him through his first term. However he should not allow his reputation to get soiled by the murky Indian politics by pitching himself as a candidate for the President post and to be remembered as a SAGE of Indian president.
It is dirty politics which is bringing shame to our nation. Mrs.Prathiba is no match for Hon.Kalamji and let her voluntarily withdraw her nomination for this mercurial post. Majority of the populace wants Kalam back who is the best president we ever had.
Thank god, Congressmen did not persuade Sonia Gandhi for the President's post, it would have been hell let loose for the nation.

It is well know that Congress wants someone who does its whims and fancies without raising questions. Pratibha fits the bill perfectly. Congress is a party without backbone and they don't want people with strong character. Thats why they don't want Abdul Kalam as President. Unfortunately Manmohan Singh who is such a great scholar has lost his respect by being in Congress and running to Sonia for every decision. He lost his character and Congress wants such people. I admire Abdul Kalam and I pray that he be President again.

If Vajpayee consulted everything with Advani why cant Manmohan do the same with Sonia. Seems like you are either a housewife or illiterate. You have not worked in teams or group in a company where its common for even the boss to consult his team. Two senior people can work together by complementing each other with their knowledge, understanding and experience. Manmohan needs Sonia's support cause she has the support of the party. Any decision gets quickly carried out if it has Soni's name behind. There's nothing characterless about it. But thats common sense politics. The more popular leader's decsion gets quick support and the task vcan be carried out quickly.

Because all in Congress are just bunch of SPINLESS and faceless selfish guys. Hope you are not part of that bunch. Bringing Pratibha as President is reason to find a RUBBER STAMP for Madam. Bajpai is equally cripilled, and BJP created scene after Kandhar plane hijack, and they are paying price for that. They will still pay for that stupid decision. As for as Congress, they have made DOZEN blunders like Kandhar eposode. Today China is roaring on our head due to tactical mistake of Nehru. Here is a arrogant family member imposing her will on 1B people.
Kalam is really a honorable person, but he is getting support for extension from those fellows who never liked his election as president of India. Now they are giving a lot of respect and honors just because of the UPA policies which are hurting them heavily like reservation issue which is taking Parliament and hapless judiciary head on. Nothing more than that. And these people are afraid that this government can (will) go to any extent even changing the constitution (challenging judiciary) with the help of rubber stamp president. So they hate anything/everything coming out of UPA. But nobody can console them and they have top face instead of using abusive language on electronic forums. So time has come for Kalam to say good bye. It will be fantastic for him also.

No doubt, Dr Kalam should leave office gracefully. Congress with old bulky guys have always played havoc with constitution of India, let it be Indira or Mr. Nehru himself. Same thing they want to continue. Judiciary and President make a small road block only. That too is not tolerable to MADAM. Ram

Dear Fauji, Perhaps your knowledge about Indian Democracy is insignificant. Politicians have Jhuggi cluster in every constituency, all over India. Votes are BOUGHT. It can be on basis of caste, grouping, or payments or wine etc. Most of intellectuals only talk, they dont bother to go and caste vote. Still I am sure people are coming to understand truth and things will change. Voting by politicinas is not on basis of consience. It is as per party wish. They will vote as per party line, even if they are convinced that cause is wrong.

Well said. You caught nerve. But fact is BJP, Congress as well as Left together started telling No for Kalam. There was no third front. Had BJP started sincerely a reelection for Kalam, things would have been diffrent for sure. BJP gave its advantage to Congress Madam. Ram

What nonsence you are talking. only Sonia Gandhi against him?? left parties opposed him in 2002 election, when Cong. supported him so he won. Now left , Lalu , Powar , Karunanithy , Mayavati and Bal Thakerray all are not supporing kalam's second term. so why you peoples are blaming only Sonia !!!! The Cong. is ruling india only because of her hard work effort in last general election and majority of peoples wanted her as Prime minister ( as per the sms,internet.. polls) But she refused .TIME Magazine elected her as the Third most powerful woman in the world.She is the one of the most respactable person in india and world.so it is very shameful to insult her personally .
