MUSHAARAF NOT THE LAST BUT THE LATEST
by srinivas iragavarapu on Jun 20, 2007 10:05 AM  Permalink

Hamid should be admired for his optimism. If Musharraf needs help it comes in the way of American military even. If a general in Pakistan has to be replaced an Admiral or an Air Marshal only can do it. Now there is no chance of that danger.
An average Pakistani does not really understand words like "free society", "free press" "civilian supremacy" , and "politics outside Qoran ".
Intellectuals from legal profession are outnumbered by "silent docile " students , doctors and "ever grateful to Musharraf mullahs" .

Hamid Mir is asking India to help Pakistanis in establishing democracy in his country!! Just shows you how each of the twins of fared! I feel sorry of the poor souls trapped in pakistan. Maybe a survey can be done to know how many of them would really like to be living in Indian conditions right now. Marans listening??

Musharraf-The last Military Dictator of Pakistan
by Fazal Curmally on Jun 20, 2007 09:31 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I tend to agree with Hamid Mir but not for the reasons he gives. The President, took the initiative to have the National Assembly pass the National Security Council Bill in April 2004. This was to be the way to prevent future martial laws in Pakistan.

There is no way, however that the Army can be kept out of National Politics. The Supreme Court of Pakistan has upheld the Doctrine of State Necessity repeatedly. It is this Doctrine that brough President Musharraf into power. I do not see anyway this Supreme Court Judgement can be undone or challenged.

Hamid Mir sees the world through his glasses and not for what it is. That is his major problem despite the fact he is a very senior person in the media world in Pakistan.

History Repeats Itself......
by rajindranath nambiar on Jun 19, 2007 11:37 PM  Permalink

No matter what our friend from Pakistan tells, there will be more military coups in pakistan in the future too given that Pakistan can't stay clean from getting Talibanized and this is the real threat for India and other countries..... So all we got to do as Indians is to watch Pakistan closely and then make necessary steps to make sure that we always emerge on top of any situations which mostly could be unforeseen. Indian government must never commit the mistake of believeing the Pakistan government ever again. Peace between Indian and Pakistan is secondary to Indian's own national securty and Integrity though it coul dbe debated that this is directly proportional to the peace between India and Pakistan. But guys, should we try to make peace with a government who gives asylum and haven to Dawood Ibrahim and Mazood Azar? If they really wanted peace, they must have captured and returned these most wanted criminals of India to Indian government. So my conclusion and suggestion to Indian government is that, talk peace with Pakistan but never fall for their word and get fooled again (remember Kargil), because "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me again, shame on me"!!!!

last days of Musharraf
by sanjay pani on Jun 19, 2007 10:21 PM  Permalink

There is no people in Pakistan? Why analyse the situation which they have welcomed long before without understanding the implications.Someone in Uniform has been telling them lies and nothing else ,still holds a measurity public support .Why to blame US and India for what is happening in Pak.This condition was the decession of the pak people taken at that moment. Now they are shouting and blaming us partly india .India does have problem with pak . only pak has problem with india . They want to add another part of world to suffer with them .When they cannot solve the poverty, education, drinking water, habitable house for common man ,they make them live by Jihad ...in the name of Allah .The Qs is like What you do when you dont have anything to do."
They dont have dreams to persue ,except watching their President and ministers living kings life and giving them commitments of a better future .Their forefathers also died living in those promises . These people also die like this . J&K is never a problem for common people . That is the problem of powerfuls.1st educate 20 crore you have then ask for the World . World will be yours .. Allah will never forgive you ..for your faults. As you sow so you reap.
