A shame to modern india that we still follow the old ideology of india and indira. Why can't we choose our own president.

well its an unfortunate fate of our country, that a person who's report card is clean is crucified at the stakes of few morally bankrupt politicians..
another example of QUOTA a women candidate promoted on the basis of feminist emancipation....

beter then kalam are there in india. BJP has shown guts in last term to appoint a wise person on the president person. but u know congress party alswayes known for gandhi-nehru puja. they would not allow the right candidate. soniya "Hotel waiteress" factor is there.

Like kalam or better then Kalam ...a lot of candiadate can be considered for the president.
Prof. Ayangaer, Prof. amartya sen, Dr. R.C.chidembram, mashelkar, Prof. joshi..they all are better scientistas then kalam. Kalam is not so a brightest engineer. But u know the luck does mater and he became the president. if the chance has given , these all persons may be better then kalam also. But indian politics have a worst of hope. They would not accept the very wise person. they need rubber stamp and soniya stamp.

under represnted section of the society
by on Jun 16, 2007 09:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

With woman president, one section of the society will be represented. And thats good.

What about the plight of so many physically / mentally handicapped section of the society? India should set an example and elect a mentally handicapped person to the highest office. Thats the only way we can prove we are progressive society. ( those argumentive type will argue that so overwhelming majority of the elected are mentally handicapped anyway, but you argumentive type please note that they were not medically certified as such).

It has happened in many other countires and I think this is the only reason why there is so much in India. Hey while just writing this I deranged.. Now I think I qualify to be a candidate.
;-) ;-)

Dear,Well said.We must give representation to every section of the soceity. But just to add..whatever criteria we choose for presidentail post, candidate must have shown loyality for Gnadhi-Neharu family in past.Without this however hard you try person is not going to be nominated. This is basic thumb rule in our country to keep paying back the sacrifices made by Gandhi-Neharu family.I dream of year 2100--when Madam XYZ Vadhera(Gandhi) will nominate mentally handicapped person to the highest office..or might be they nominate their Loyal Dog ''SHERU'' for the services he has given to their service!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not know what representation actually means. It will definitely put one woman "Pratibha" into President Bhavan but how it is going to help thousand of oppressesd women is beyoind my comprehension. K.R. Narayan was from backward class but did it help backward castes during his presidency. I think that only merit should be the basis in these matter.

You are right. In fact the position deserves a mentally handicapped person, since it carries no discretion, but to be bound by the advise of cabinet (or PM).

What this women will do?or can do?
by vijay sharma on Jun 16, 2007 09:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Women consists almost half of polplation of the world, and she is necessary evil(or need particularily in Indian society) of man!s life, and life without woman is incomplete. But whether woman also understands this?all other women may of course understand, but surely not an ambitious woman interested in unnecessary politics.Country people and Indian Cultural systems may understand but surely not Sonia or Congress, that a woman at the age of more than 70,just for dirty politics of loyality is subjecting to deprivation her own family members, when none else then Sonia or Congress for seeking a blind loyalist are trying to give unnecessary trouble to this woman. As Governer of this state, let anybody boast, but in reality she has proved herself as most retarded and of no existence to the State of Rajasthan, except faltering to Congress and Sonia Gandhi.Such woman must live at peace alongwith her family members at such an advanced age,and must not subject herself to be befooled by Sonia Gandhi. She must gather from her heart as to whether she deserves to become president of this great nation? and whether she can become atall?.All politicians are so dirty that they keep and cherish wrong notions about themselves. She cannot be a right candidate and she must withdraw if she is a true patriot to this nation.
