After securing the candidature for the election for the post of President, Pratibha Patil was criticised as a rubber stamp who will work in bonhomie with Sonia Gandhi for and after 2009 general elections to help her in getting the post of PM which she could not get because of President Abdul Kalam in 2004. She clearly knows (no need to tell her) that the post of President is above all political ideologies. By giving a statement, she has tried to show her conviction and determination about a socially and politically controvertial issue such as purdah. She knows that this issue will not be digested by pseudo secular historians and intellectuals of this country and they will be after her once this statement is published. Their criticism will place her in a better position to contest the forth coming election.
RE:Did any body think why Pratibha Patil raised the matter of purdah?

We have to remember the past, and then dream about the future; who is there to predict in the next minute what is going to be happen? Let Sonia win the forthcoming election with majority then we can plan what should be the proceedings further.
Just we not dream like the holder of an egg of a hen at hand "in future he will be a business man like Dhirubani Ambani from the income of the egg sold". Very many happenings we have seen, so keep cool and fresh.
Every patriotic Indian shocked when heardd this news. Pratibaji your nomination was only just because of loyal to Sonia and Left also need a person in presidents seat they can control.
If you are elected, please give up your loyality to Sonia, be loyal to our Nation. remember once you became president you are the supreme command. Ignore all political pressures. Shout Barath matha!! never say Sonia Matha!

Mr.K.R.Narayanan was a wonderful President too. Completely non-partisan. But what happened when Congress wanted him for a Second Term? Why the differential treatment NOW???

its not just that Sonia gandhi is playing politics. Its the entire political community who do it. Every politician wants his own candidate for president. Sonia gandhi as a leader will just have to choose the right person so that all other politicians are ok with it.
That is what politics is all about. Blaming Sonia gandhi for playing politics is nto right. This is to be blamed on all the politicians who have been given power to elect the president.
See BJP is supporting Kalam becoz the people are supporting kalam. IT more like a Chess game.
Its easy to put a blame on just the leader in limelight.
