If anyone can stand face to face, it's India
by VinayBabu Ravuri on Jun 11, 2007 10:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If anyone can stand face to face with China, it's India. Ofcourse, Chinese cannot succeed in this Tiger ban. But as a punitive measure, India should promote an industry of cheaper goods to be smuggled to china so that they don't dare do such things to the World

Chinese are cruel... they'll definitely see a prospect in it. they won't leave a bug alive in the world until there are only human beings left for them to eat.

India to oposes China's demand on klifting ban on tigers parts trade
by Bodh Ramdeo on Jun 11, 2007 06:14 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India should do like the Brits did when the Chinese wanted to only sell them stuff but refused to buy anything in return - they dumped opium unto their market and the rest is history.
If the Chinese are insistent on continuing this illegal trade in protected endangered species parts, then India and other nations should flood their markets with illicit drugs, just like the Brits did over a century ago - see how they like it when the shoes are on the other foot.

tiger needs to be safeguarded, not traded in pieces
by R on Jun 11, 2007 06:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

its very clear that tiger body parts go to china straight. they have wierd medicines from most animals and tiger is one of the prominent ones. most medicines are bunk, and tiger does not have medicinal properties like plants have. for example the active ingredients inturmeric are indeed medicinal, same goes with neem, or many many other plants. but tiger body parts as aphrodisiac ? or for body pain and other medicines is foolishness, and china officially supports these quack medicines.

they need to be stopped. but, we are no different, we have such a casual attitude towards our environment. tiger numbers have dropped to half the levels that were a decade ago, instead of conserving we are finishing off whatever's left. the tiger skin or body parts trade is miniscule, the money out of it is also miniscule, yet the politicians dont wake up to it, and dont conserve forests, or the tigers. they know very clearly that tigers need large spaces, and the politicians dont want more spaces as reserves. so, thats the link towards forest areas and lands and tigers.

Good observation. Just because they come up with medicinal uses for various body parts of different animals, does not mean other countries will oblige and start trading what-ever body part they need. It is just illogicial for them to assume and try it.

Just limit your customs and traditions to your country and if you can sustain it without effecting other countries, only then one must sustain such customs.

re- tiger trade
by suvi michael on Jun 11, 2007 05:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Whether tiger trading is legalized or not, what's imporatant is that the indian govt. must have effective and efficient means of protecting our tigers. Whether China trades tiger parts or not is not relevant for our tiger's safety.

suvi if their is a human organ trader in you neighbour house your kids are not safe too. sorry for using harsh language. poachers in india kills tigers to sell them in chinas market. if market will not exists for whom thses poachers will kill tigers. tigers bones and others parts of their body are very costly in china because they mix them with medicines and selling to increase sex power. their is a great demand in world for this medicine.
