stupid media

Our media has this habit of finding the "indianness" of successful persons after they become successful. These idiots keep saying "american-indian" sunita williams. Why the hell are we so proud of her. She is by no means an Indian citizen, even if she is of Indian origin whats the big deal. She is what she is because of USA and not India. We should be proud when we put a pucca 100% indian astronauts (who are indian citizens) in space on a regular basis. Until then we should keep our mouth shut, otherwise our behaviour comes across as creepy.

Arun i fully agree with you.

Bobby Jindal, Kalpana chawla, and Now Sunita william. Non of them ever said they arany way india. They always say we are American. Still stupid indian media goes on screaming Indian indian.
Even those so called NRI who visit india every or every six month don't like to call themself Indian. Than why do india media harp on this Indianness

Why is the whole space mission so India centric? Agreed that its does make an Indian pround that one of our citizen is up in the space, showing volumes of her achievement. But for God's sake, value others as well! We have other space travellers, who are also gonna come back. Their life is also equally important for us. PTI/and other Indian journos must change their writing habits.

whats wrong in emphasising India in this... Its an acheivement for her and she is on the mark to set world record so why not be proud and tell about her... if she in Indian let it be known to all that its Indian... Time was there when people use to proudly say... Made in US... ya imported hai... now when we Indian are now reaching the world why do we want to meek and humble enough not to mention Made in India.. I never mean to say we need to be arrogant but at same time dont be shy feel proud of India.. else it will happen same thing... as things are happened in past and in present.. Contributions to the world by India has been claimed by these westerners and we keep mum and helpless... There are many instances where we kept low profile and did not use Made in India tag and patent of Basmati rice went to some other country, turmeric was patent by some other multinational company though we fough and won... Yoga in US christian use the tag Christian yoga and say it with confidence it does not belong to any religion or country and do not give credit to india at same time.... So there is equal need to emphasis Made in India... She is Indian by origin and has made India proud that being in foreign and competition from many others, she has been selected.... so wake up and feel proud of Made in india tag.........no more low profile... world has changed

Mr. Pawar - why do you want to get asscocited with something which is not ours.... Probably media is trying to build a ground for some future US expedition to India????

Well, every time ISRO do some tests or announcements I feel really proud... Sometime I party as well...... But Yes Ms. Williams as a human, I appreciate her but can never agree her being asscoiated with India/Indian origin - whatever it is....

Man! these people frown to be associated with India do you know that. Even the so called NRI - as* hol*s.... I feel disgusted even to talk about these guys...

I am a Indian and for every India's achievement I appalude and feel proud.....

Mr. Pawan
If it is " MADE IN INDIA" i will carry that tag on my chest and show to world.
I also don't mind appericiating an acheivement. What i don't agree with harping about inndianness when these people themself don't accept that they are indian

You must understand that these people are holding American Citizenships. Even if they you to show your loyalty to India, they cannot, at least publicly or they will have a hard time. Imagine yourself - you are in the public glare at all the time - lets talk of Shilpa Shetty that she is an India and now with international publicity, can she proclaim that she would rather be a britisher, etc. It is very easy to say that they must accept that they are Indians - legal protocols and procedures do not allow them to do so. Please understand it.

@all....
You guys should understand sometimes to achieve something we need to adopt the surrounding and work in the similar style. Though she is born and brought in US, but is of Indian Origin,... THough people are American citizen they still are called as INDIAN.. Unless she is ameican citizen she woould not have got chance to prove her capablities unless she is from Space partner counrty of NASA....

Indian American Sunita??
by Surender Sharma on Jun 11, 2007 09:53 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Does anyone noted that every news channel, newspaper or site always put "INDIAN" before American Sunita Williams. One thing is very clear that we Indian are always front runner in putting "Made in India" tag on everything which is successful. I am sure if Sunita still living in India, despite her best intellectual abilities, she would have been one of the millions of ordinary indian women. We or Indian government has done nothing for her and now Sunita is successful, we are claiming "Indian American Sunita Williams. The same case was with Kalpana Chawla. Why it is like that everybody needs to go outside India to prove their metal and once they are successful, we don't waste even a single minute in claiming them as one of ours. Other case is Laxmi Mittal. This guy prove himself beyond doubt but I am sure, if he stayed in India, he would be one of the tax cheater, land grabber like ambani's, mittals etc.

Stop putting "Made in India" Tag.

thanks
