Americans can contribute in control of CO2 emission considerably by using public transport more often. Most American families own two or more cars.
Bicycles which were a common sight upto the sixties has almost disappeared. Governments & public should encourage/facilitate the use of cycles. Poor and densely populated countries would benefit in many ways. Apart from reduction in polution, lesser dependence on oil, form of excercise etc.
More and more attention needs to be given on recycling. An example; usage of tissues in place of hand-kerchieves, reduce the consumption of "use & throw away" products etc.
we should all strive to change our ways and thinking towards global warming. Adopt the latest technologies wherever possible. Non-polluting natural resources should be acheivable.
its says 55% of indians care about global warming. This cant be true. What percentage of indians know what is global warming. improve your literacy rate first.

you obviously cant read. i didnot say that literacy rate is less than 55%. All i said is that the number 55% is impossible give our literacy rate. Given that 59.5% is literate, do you think most of those people care about global warming or making a quick buck, no matter the way. you obviously got an education in india.

"your literacy rate" and then "our literacy rate" and then "got an education from india".Whats this guy a paki? or an NRI who is not sure whether he is indian or foriegnher or plain idiot????
When taking a sample they take random sample on the road.Thats why its called sampling and not sensus idiot. If india is literate or illiterate,we are the second fastest growing economy, producing more millionaires and billionaires than anybody and with 4th largest purchasing power soon to replace america and japan to become the 2nd. We know our weekness but we also know where and what we can do.Meanwhile decide if you want to be an indian or a westerner .If its the former well and good ,if its the later wait till your country become the next uk of the world. If you cant see good things keep your dirty mouth shut
This is a serious matter at the macro level and needs immediate attention by our Political leaders. However, if we take the total land mass available in India, may be if we spread ourselves thin across the entire continent, we can feel the impact less and also start implementing healthier methods of living. This can be a positive cocntribution. We must start looking for the jobs in the semi urban and rural areas. Many companies can surely start their new operations in such places.
Mumbai is the worst city to live in. The ever greedy and corrupt municipality officials who dont care about pollution and cleanliness. Bombay was once the most beautiful city to live in, now we have people coming from all parts of the country including Bangladesh who keep crowding the city even willing to live in the filth, beggars earning a living on the streets (now begging is the best profession - they live clumsily and possess wealth (money) with no taxes and stolen electricity giving bribes to police and municipality. The heavy emission from vehicles on roads that are forever dug up and only filled with cheap quality cement or tar. How can this city improve when right from government officials to the general public are so illiterate (even so called educated people fall in this category) and dont want to see change. Its a rosy picture from the outside but inside is filthy and dirty.

Pune is also following Mumbai, the politician and administration officials, MCD nexus is becoming more fatal for the infrastructure, narrow rough roads, pollution, dirty rivers which are turned into Nalas is going to be disaster in coming days. Every kind of major investement is going to improve the life style of bigger cities only. Nobody has the planning for smaller cities like Pune which are growing too fast. Even transportation facility is horrible. No upcoming plans for implemetation local trains, CNG compatible vehicla, auto ricksaws monopoly and name any type of corruption, you will find in Pune. when we will improve?
RE:India's per capita CO2 emission is 4% of USA.

same thing is not true for china; why do you guys bat for china without accurate estimate.
The concept of simple living and living for others is dead. The whole world blindly follows the principle of the Greedy West. The so called developed nations consume 75% of world resource.
Still the Sale of SUV is increasing. US citizens do not know anything about conserving, they know only to consume. Now India and china joined this club.
I welcome this move, let the west feel the pinch of global warming and start clean up this mess. The most pity thing is India will be most affected due to the Global warming. I am confident Indians will survive this hard time.
In coming days there will more dramatic climate changes, more earthquakes. One real big earthquake is due now. If this happens earth will start recycle the mess created by humans. Let us all watch where this is going to happen. Destruction is always not bad. It is good to cleanup the mess and start new.
How many of us ever planted a plant/Tree forget!that would be too much of an expeectation. let us come from the thought"How many of us ever pour some water to a plant" I feel we indians are always thinking about our own families We never fought for a social cause with unity. If so we could not have had this country corruption free,Caste politics free, illitracy free, poverty free, infact british could have vacated our country long before we could think about. Our worrys just result "at the most in long term five year plans which never get implimented" So my dear indians its just the way we think

Agree with you to a large extent that we indians including you and me think only of self sufficiency and not beyond as one country.
