Banning of orkut.com : suppression of freedom
by Vishwamitra Singh on Jun 08, 2007 03:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dont mix freedom of speech with unfair trade practices. Running of a media channel and the websites are business and not freedom of speech. If the site creats dissatisfaction or insult, it should be banned.

ppl in rediff post their comments with offensive words. Do you mean rediff shud be banned?

Same as in rediff, there is a option to report abuse in orkut. Ppl can always use that...

Did you understand Mr. Viswamitra?

Sir, so is politics, a business...and destroying property of cyber cafes and using illegal force to deny people not indulging in slander, surpasses dissatisfaction and insult. It is a crime. Further to have Sainik infiltrators in the police watching the fun is an arrogant joke on impotence of the government of the day. I don't advocate the mischievious slandering Chatrapathi Shivaji, but lawless mob reaction by any party has to be strongly condemned if we call ourselves civilised and further a strong call also has to be made to book the culprits, irrespective of the party in question and an enquiry held in how the police were bystanders in the episode.

Exactly, i agree with shonali. There are critical issues like corruption, literacy etc.... Why not work on those issues rather than worrying about messages posted on orkut

are people crazy
by ronin R on Jun 08, 2007 03:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

banning sites will not solve the problem
there are different people in the world and every budy has the right to speak up
if u are intrusted u join the group if not have to carry on with our work, i agree that passsing comments on respected personalities is wrong, but every budy is not same

by ucannot on Jun 08, 2007 03:31 PM  Permalink

we r in a democracy . shiv sena is attacking one of our fundamental rights . they donot hv much work so they take up small issues and try to gain publicity. shiv sena is responsible for many strikes in india thus slowing its progress . it should be banned . they r something like the TALIBAN people.
