Should Orkut be banned?
by neeti dilliwar on Jun 11, 2007 11:34 AM  Permalink

I agree with Pushkar prasad.Orkut is a place where everyone has freedom to express there views.Regarding the Matter related to shiv send, i would say that we can report those communities as Abuse and then the moderators can shutdown/abandon that community.

I suggest that orkut owners should monitor the content of communities on the basis of No of events reported as abuse for any community/user.

Ban orkut
by rajesh kumar on Jun 11, 2007 11:30 AM  Permalink

I think banning is not good because orkut provires a platform to meet like minded ppl and share their views make friends. But I can't understand why Google is not Policing the communities and profiles who spread hatred. They have th rule that is 10000 users report abuses then they will delete the community, instead go for self policing and see if their is any deragotary remarks against any faith then warn him or delete the material posted. It is very simple and the recruitment of 10 ppl in India will serve the perpose for gogle, else they will always face the threat of banning from India. Yes there are ppl who abuses other religion, faith even personal abuses and Ploicing is not so tough.

Should I Re-iterate Indian Consititution?
by Pushkar Prasad on Jun 11, 2007 02:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As per the constitution of our country any citizen has been given following fundamental rights
1. Right to equality before the law and equal protection of the laws),
2. Freedom of speech and expression
3. Right to assemble peacefully
4. Right to form associations and unions
5. Right to move about and reside freely in
any part of the country
6. Right to pursue any trade or profession
7. Right to life and personal liberty.

Orkut is a mean for today's generation to assemble peacefully and express themselves which is guaranteed by our constitution.

Shiv-sena is totally ignorant about that fact and there expression is always vandalism, which is to its depth is totally un-constitutional.

Everybody has a right to personal liberty, who gave them right to decide what we should do and what we should not? Its a matter of personal preference about liking someone or something. If they are talking about Orkut being a threat to our national integrity, then they are the first to share the blame, because they are the people who talk and bring up the issues related to religious differences and "Me Mumbaikar" or "Amchi Mumbai" when it comes to politics.

What is the specific purpose of theis party?
by Gautam nil on Jun 10, 2007 10:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This party has no definite purpose of welfare to the needy people! This party came to beginning purely to attach south Indians , particularly Malayalees as a personal vengeance against the Malayali owner of a news daily who could not pay the architect of this party due to bad circulation of the paper that was running in loss! People can well understand that its origin was not in the welfare of any community but on personal reasons!

Once launched, due to a subsequent selfish insight to continue for personal growth, this party kept on changing its targeting shifting from south Indians to different sections who were found to be in their ways on one or other personal selfish ends! They even went against different fields like attacking cinema houses, movies, journalists and houses, to continue shifting after being perhaps benefited in almost every such cases of opposition! At times they talk of support to local population merely to draw support, though could not impress the elite of the section! They also often talk of Hinduism just to keep the warmth of the party that has no definite welfare programme of the downtrodden in real miseries.

The Party also run to cricket some times to ensure that the party is in light as cricket is a game of interest of masses in this country. Lots of claims were made initially that the party was very much involved in extortion activities! Perhaps the money was amassed. Thus they are not in any way a party for real welfare of the needy who are in miseries! They involve in sporadic violence for the causes that are not human welfare on the contrary they had been regularly nuisance for the general society!

People who could not secure monthly salary are now with crores of rupees worth properties about which public is unaware of the sources! They just try to survive by certain artificial issues carefully selected to tackle some perhaps with a view to benefit by them!

This party is not short of terrorists! Why does local and central governments hesitate to clip the laws and Acts as applicable to Terrorists, even after their involvements perhaps in murder and acts of violence and crime in 1993 riots though their names had been clearly mentioned in an independent commission submitted to Gove

orkut or no orkut
by preeti kulkarni on Jun 10, 2007 06:58 PM  Permalink

Orkut can be banned, but will that help the cause?I seriously doubt. We are just trying to close the matter and forget that it really exists. Do they seriously believe that with the ban on Orkut, no such group will be formed ever again?infact, this is just the tip of the ice-berg. Again, as mentioned by someone here, they ban Orkut and some thing else will come up. Internet is such a wast field that it will be impossible to monitor each and every thing expressed here, besides its just view of some people..how can we ban them from expressing themselves?

its time we regularise the internet
by on Jun 10, 2007 03:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think its the google's irresponsible attitude to give away such a powerful tool to each and everyone irrespective of their attitude, if it is for alumni and friends then it should encourage only such members that too only after due authentication. It may be very constructive but see how it can create fundamentalists and fanatics when someone knows that there are other fanatics[psychos] around like him hating some religion or anything from the past. The same shiv sena can use this as a tool to create fundamentalists and fanatics. If google can't monitor the whole network better it should go for the development of such sophisticated monitoring methods as we cannot expect every user from 1 to 100 years to be responsible. Our culture is definitely different and diverse than that of west.Even a small spark can swallow millions of life in this part of world.Maybe we are in the internet age, but still several millions of our brothers, sisters and children are starving due to lack of education, food etc and they have not come out of their prejudices and practises, so if something can cause a mild hatred then the effect is gonna be devastating. It is impossible for the orkut[google] owners to understand the situation in our country. Moreover even I am youth and I feel orkut swallows a lotta useful time. The total number of internet users in india is less when compared to the people dying of hunger. So I feel banning orkut is not going to create some russian revolution in india.

very apt and very well put... we are living inside a live wire. any thing can ignite it.. so it is right for each of us to take personal responsibility... the abuse feature in orkut should be used more widely and it should require fewer votes and greater monitoring.. the moderator should be responsible for activities. if he plans to discontinue using orkt he must delete or transfer control to an active member...
