I think these guys who want it to be shut off, if they are really patriotic shud go out and do some good social service and do some charities instead of attacking some website. True there is junk written on orkut, there is junk written in public toilets as well, will they close down those?? There should be some reasonable topic to debate on. These are just waste of time and publicity tactics. There is so much stuff written about Bill Gates. Imagine him sitting in one corner and crying for his rights. Grow up guys! First set of people who should be banned in India is the Shiv Sena. They are the most notorious bunch of clowns who spark off unnecessary events to gain publicity.The world economy is entering an era of information exchange in a profitable manner. And a prime tool for that is community building, let it be any community. With a population of 1 billion these guys should focus on opportunities to build those communities instead of running around like a bunch of jokers hurting people and inflicting harm.
oh for god's sake, whats wrong with everyone, orkut's jus a fun site, take it light, i mean, its a place where ppl jus share there interests and views, jus like u talk freely with ur frens, u share ur views regarding anything, movies, politics, history, relationship; here u do with ppl with similar ideas across the globe. somebody gets killed, its orkut's fault, somebody tries self immolation reason orkut,never heard ppl sayng .."oh yeah..i was jus taking a break,browsing a community reagrding networking, graphics, databse, medicines,..and boyyy! i found a solution for the probelm..and i finished my work before deadline" this is no joke, ppl do share queries on various communities and have been benefitted, am one of them. ban orkut!!..huh?? WHAT CRAPPPPPP!!!..ppl get a life, now u ban orkut, whats next, make ppl spy on each other their frens parents spouse to see who's hurting who's religious sentiments...report to police, get them arrested....what the hell!!! this country's going to dogs. DONT BLAME orkut ..i strictly believe ppl who want to ban...are against TECHNOLOGY and dont want INDIA to develop.

Orkut is public ,it has to be private,, or whatever happenin wil be countineu , not now when any of your near or dear will be trapped you will get to know and whatever matter or porn things , orkut is not stopping by saying 18 or any sign for adult materials, I moral support to ban orkut. think of other side, and abt querie and database and any thing you hv google to search or many helpdesk availbale , if you are good as finder you can find it out quickly, and who is using orkut for techno reason, I guess hardly 2% rest of are just flirtin and sex and all,, you know better so think b4 saying anything , its not bann of freedom but some how its a like to let you free in society you live freely

even that 2% can make a differnce, in YOUR future, sir! and there r quite helpful communities believe it or not. and as i said, i have thought and read a lot more before favoring orkut. no offense, but i believ u not looking at all aspects. u still stuck with the sex-violence part, look beyond, this things exhaust, but knowledge doesnt. and sir, am not unaware of google or wiki, make the utmost use of them, and the forums/ communities in ORKUT are as beneficial to the above mentioned 2% as any forum on net.

try google search or www.ask.com one of the most finest search engine. and the reason for the is its too public. I guess once you feel about the dangeous of openess about orkut for any issue technical or nontechnical you will feel it

orkut is an incurable disease worse than leperosy. and these sick orkutwalas do not realise that they are suffering from a serious ailment. if orkut is not banned as early as possible it will be the main cause for the spread of aids. i suggest the orkutwalas to go chk if they are not HIV positive already. kissing raping killing is all that these sick guys know. god save us. jai hind !
When Media is making a cry about, open society and freedom of expression. People debate that one might be hurting your feeling but for him it must be just. Or an Art might be not to your idea but Art to me. So, why bother let anyone do anything if you like take it or ignore. Why regulate some thing or some one in an open society. Or in an age of Freedom of expression.
The site should be banned. Teenagers misuse this site for obscene messages and jokes. They get more and more addicted to the computer screen and spend hours in front of the box. Such freedom is uncalled for.

Oh my God ... your sense of morality is so deeply hurt ! I think its people like you who should be put behind bars and jailed forever so you do not impede on others. India won its freedom in 1947 - but there will always people who will think Indians do not have the right to be free and should be ruled by "higher" and "wiser" force. I think banning orkut does not solve the problem. The point is if bad remarks are posted, by banning we just avoid seeing those remarks. If some person sitting in some other country posts some bad remarks, we would be the last people to see that. But who the hell stops him from writing those remarks.
Noooo Orkut should not be banned. Just because some ppl said somthing about shiv sena that does not mean orkut should be banned. Ppl says lot of things about lot of ppl but that does not mean orkut should be banned.
Its a mirage,amazing thing,that we are seeing that our culture is spoiling bcoz of all these sites which provides easy ways for porn,and we are doing nothing.and who small people endevaour to stop all this majority is against them.Shame on indian youths who r watching depreciation of indian culture.
I appeal its the time to preserve india.Werent we enjoying in ancient india,when there was no orkut,no www.Is this the only means for pleasure?

Culture doesnt get spoiled by orkuts and stuff but by human mentalities.Every individual has a right to express his views and thats what India is all about (being free).Today we ban orkut,tom some may even protest again fashionable trends published on various sites - like rediff,yahoo.Do u want to ban that too and how long????

Shiv Sainiks hav a lot of problems with many things that does not mean we shud stop our Selves from growing & adapting to mordernization. They do many things for controversy, We are a young educated generation, We shud act accordingly & Respect each ones Beliefs & Views. Not Force anyone in doing somthings like the maniacs.
IN MY OPINION, TO AVOID SUCH PROBLEM SOME MONITORING ACTIVITY SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED THROUGH SOFT WARE. SOME SPECIFIC WORDS SHOULD NOT APPEAR ON THE SITE ETC. ALSO FOR SENSITIVE SUBJECTS SOME HUMAN MONITORING SYSTEM ALSO SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED.IF ANY ABUSE ALERT HAS RECEIVED THAT CAN BE REMOVED FROM SITE LIKE REDIFF. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE BENEFITTED BY THIS SITE AND IT IS GOOD FOR EXCHANGE OF IDEA'S. HENCE THE SITE SHOULD NOT BE BANNED.
