This nthing but burning the house to kill the rat. Orkut is a wondeful site and its utility far exceeds its pitfalls. Personally it has helped me stay in touch with many of my former classmates. After they had left for higher studies and other places, it's here that i met them. If u strt banning such sites, then let me tell u some more sites u wud hav to shut down.. myspace, facebook, hi5...

Very true. I totally agree with you. If you want to ban Orkut..plz go ahead and ban all the sites including rediffmail and yahoo and gmail and the likes. People can definatley misuse these too. Banning is no solution to this menace. Have a proactive monitoring system that can erase the unwanted material before it catches people's eye. I have been benefitted by this site and would like to continue as a member.
It will be very improper to impose a ban on orkut. There are lots of postives about this site. Its a great social networking avenue and also acts as a very good knowledge forum. Only a smaller section of users is responsible for the Deregatory comments posted on the site and do not, therefore, reflect the greater mass. But at the same time these are inevitable but surely avoidable.

freedom of expression means to him, he says, "It means that one has a right to think and express his opinions freely but not hurt the sentiments of others.

Report of orkut more communitie on nonsense issue like religion-sex-violance then the normal topic what you think abt user of that? much more then simple user of orkut
do a search and find out the sites which contains any remarks on Bal Thackery and Chatrapati Shivaji and ban those sites not only in India but from the internet...
soon we will have no internet in India... good for Shiv Sainiks...
OFCOURSE NOT !!! Can I ask the govt a question? What are u going to achieve by banning Orkut? So if I post something thats derogatory now, will the govt ban Rediff? And what if abt all the other modes of expression? Wil the govt ban everything? Come on wake up! Spend ur time in bettering the country and not by curbing freedom of expression. Ofcourse a middle ground can be achieved by Orkut monitoring whats happening a little better. But banning something is not the option.

freedom of expression means that one has a right to think and express his opinions freely but not hurt the sentiments of others. ppl on orkut doing dat only,, if you wanna express anything , write in newspaper join debate issue , you can get the realitiy too dat time,,, Wake up guys,,,dont let anyone to hurt your near or dear , dat time you wil be alone to oppose and nun wil be wit you
Hey .. Orkut should not be banned. If some community is violating the conditions, vote against that community and Gmail team will ban the community. Since it is secured friendship network, it should not be banned.
Orkut also has its own advantages and disadvantages. Fake profiles are very common in orkut. We must avoid that. recently one more news came that one guy has created a profile of a girl projecting her as pros; to whom he loved but she didn't accept the request. Such things are bad...
First of all everyone should remember that India is a democratic nation and if Orkut is banned,it shows that we are supressing democratic rights and freedom to express for one and all.
Not all misuse this site. Its been an wonderful site to relocate old friends, colleagues and other peer groups. Also,it allows to learn and know new people, their cultures, traditions and lot more.
