OFCOURSE NOT !!! Can I ask the govt a question? What are u going to achieve by banning Orkut? So if I post something thats derogatory now, will the govt ban Rediff? And what if abt all the other modes of expression? Wil the govt ban everything? Come on wake up! Spend ur time in bettering the country and not by curbing freedom of expression. Ofcourse a middle ground can be achieved by Orkut monitoring whats happening a little better. But banning something is not the option.
I think banning orkut does not solve the problem. The point is if bad remarks are posted, by banning we just avoid seeing those remarks. If some person sitting in some other country posts some bad remarks, we would be the last people to see that. But who the hell stops him from writing those remarks.

Allah can't permit such violent, sexual acts shown on orkut. It should be banned at once.
A knife can be used to kill or to save. It depends on the person who is using it. Orkut is useful for getting in touch with long lost friends. However, it has its negative side too. Moral ineptitude on behalf of the user should not affect the tool itself, in this case.. orkut.
Why? Is this the way to run a democracy? Freedom of Expression cannot be suppressed. Today it's Orkut tomorrow there'l be another such community / blog / web page. Who is Thackeray to decide what we should surf and what we shouldn't express. Does he expect the public to sing hymns in his praise? What has he done to expect praise? Today the mention of Shiv Sainiks in the news draws attention because of the havoc, desctruction and intereference they bring to normal public life. Give us a break. Mind your own business. Try and do something constructive for a change. Bloody vandals.
