A politician should NEVER be the President. The oldy, Mr Shekhawat should now lead a retired life at his Home. The politician should not take it as a fun. A non-politician, intellectual personality should always be the President of The Great India. At the moment Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam is the best candidate.

NO ..Even i have full respect to kalam, Kalam is not right choice. Tell me single think he has done in 5 years? He has just dream of making india superpower, which all our previous president have done, Nothing has change. If our president cannot make decision of hanging azhal guru, what other decisions he can take on his own. Give more power to president.
A politician in India can only bring shame to India and harassment to the public. They are not known serve the public; but want the public to serve them. They do not empower the masses; they believe in empowering themselves. They do not believe in making India rich; they believe in making themselves rich. They want the masses to follow the laws of the land; but terrorise those who are law-abiding.
Criminalism, caste-based rhetoric, class-based fundamentalism (making poor pooorer and themselves richer) are what qualifies one to enter the prestigious seat of the highest posts of India.
And the masses will unfortunately always remain worms who can be trampled upon in India.
We can never see a Narayan Murthy or Sam Pitroda as a President of India.
This article is nothing more than another media imagination, which projects Bachchan and Narayana Moorthy as presidential candidates while they were never really considered for the job, and has nothing much to do with facts.
Fact of the matter is, President must have very good understanding of the Constitution and political nuances of the country and must understand the pulse of the people. It is best done by a distinguished senior politicain like Pranab Mukherjee. Article even says (on 4th June) Somanath Chatterjee is the front runner! I wish he reads news papers

Mr Somnath Chatterjee's main qualifications are that he is a member of Calcutta Club and Bengal Rowing Club. He comes from a party that has based its existence on gherao, gono-andolan, strike, micchil etc.
If all that is required is a good understanding of the constitution, a lawyer should be made the President. But, you will have to get Mdm Sonia Gandhi to agree.
understand.... you and me can't do anything in choosing a president. even rediff knows it very well. just to get high hit rates in market, they do this kind of article and asking people give their comments on selecting president.
the IMMORALS (READ POLITICIANS) are feeling unsecure & guility concissues (if the have any) by finding a person with moral values in between them . SO all the immorals may take a decision in the name of democracy to install one crooked corrupt politician ignoring the wishes of the people as reflected in the media.
We have no right to decide, who should be our president. Our openion doesnt matter. It is the right of politicians only to decide who should be next president. And when it comes to fulfilment of their own interests, they know whats best for them. However, they are rogue to the country and society today. Given the choice to the people, they would necer want a politician to be on the chair of the president. President should be of strature, with impacable honest and credible record in public life, with no political affiliation.
President of India should be such a person who lends credibility to that post, who honors it and brings faith of people along with it..rather than a person who derives all this from this post and then becomes a president...
The person who becomes a president should be a political being. A person out side the political spectrum would not be able to gauge the mood of the multitude and would be caried away by the sermons given by the chattering classes. Whole debate is fritless and those who elect the president should decide who is best suited for that job.
