In the present era of coalition politics at the centre the role or president is very vital. only a non-plotical person at this post can deliver unbiased judgment when the time come. So kindly make this issue a natiuonal debate and proposed our beloved prsident for the next five year. Vinod Pathania
I think our next President should be someone who knows what their job is. I really appreciate our present President DR. Abdul Kalam. He is man of vision. We need a President who can lead this country. Until Abdul Kalam became a president all i remember a president doing is inagurate or preside a function. We should have a president from the business world who also cares for this country, who has vision for this country.
Let us change the rules of the game in Indian Polity. Let us be the first Democracy where both the President and Members of the Central Parliament be chosen directly by the People of India. This will usher in a new age of Democratic good governance for the following reasons: 1) It gives equal opportunity for any citizen of India to run for the fray of Presidential Election. There are lots of Learned, dedicated and committed people who wants to lead the Nation, but do not want to dirty themselves by entering into one or the other Political Parties. These people can be stalwarts in their own field of Engineering, Journalism, Medicine, literature, etc, and who have a vision for the Nation, guaranteed that such important and absolute characteristic(s) will definitely be missing in a Political President. 2) A non-political and visionary president mounts enormous pressure on the callous/vested political class to frame their laws to the best interests of the people, as, a president enjoys the right of reviewing/rejecting their Bill(s). A political president is just a formal Signature Agent, who just wants to enjoy his 5 year tenure as leisurely as he can and tour the world with all expenses going from the exchequer. At the end of his 5 year tenure, he delivers nothing. Already being cornered by the Highest Court of the Land for their lackadaisical attitude towards many aspects of governance, the political and the legislative class will definitely find it difficult to Handle pressur

Missing last line below:
....Handle pressure also from a non-political president. In this case, the Nation benefits. Let us start to revolutionize our Democracy where people has the right to directly choose their President, Prime Minister and Chief Minister(s).

I think we should enforce as follows: President - Dalit Vice-President - OBC Prime Minister - SC/ST Education Minister - Minority Community
Of all cabinet posts, 60% should be reserved category.
The President must be elected by the Public not by Politicians. The system should be re-written accordingly. Politicians also can occupy the seat provided they bear guts. For example - Mani Shankar Iyer, he can be a better choice. Soli Sorabji, T N Sheshan etc if elected will be good for the country and the people.
No way. We saw in the media that a lot of MPs did not even know our National Anthem. Such being the case, and also our political system being so corrupt, they do not deserve to be the President of India. If they become, we would be going back to history where you had heads of state (rulers) being unaccountable. You definitely need to have daring people like our present President, or TN Seshan, Cho. Ramaswamy, why even people like Prannoy Roy, Barkha Dutt and the list goes on.

In that case, would you pefer someone prettier? You can choose between Mandira Bedi and Priyanka Chopra
Only Mr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has the right to become the next president again and not any other politician. He is not greedy and selfish like others and neither will he waste public property of our country unlike others.

Yes, he must be made the next president. He is very good, honest and people friendly and qualified in all respect. But in India our curropt politicians and amoral political parties will not allow him to be the next president. I am only looking for a change to happen in our system of governance. This democratic system has become outdated. It must be revamped and needs some fresh thinking to end the present system. President should be elected by the people and not by the curropt parties. But who will do this. Since the corrupt parties form the Government, they will never do such reforms because it would not suit them. So we are the ultimate suffers and sufferings will continue????????
If a Indian becomes the president of India, how he is non politician? without political power, support from the political party how can he selected? only the field he worked may or may not be a plitical. But after he is becoming a face political parties/alliances. So dont make the confusion.
we need some a extremely corrupt politcian as our president. what could APJ do, he could not do anything worthwhile atleast if we have a corrupt politican he can make some money for himself and his party.
