Politician President
by Arvind Upadhyay on Jun 04, 2007 02:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We need some politician who has set some example of not being greedy for any post. I think Sonia ji would fit this post. She should be made president unanimously by all parties. It would save time for PM to report to two places (President and UPA chairman currently) and both of them would be able to implement their programmes more effectively. Moreover, it will improve India's relation with western world because of her power and communication skills.

Exactly that's what the hon'ble MPs, MLAs and political parties say to the citizens. They have absolutely no respect for the people or their wishes or aspirations. Do you want to do a reality check? Just try to meet them with a cause (genuine or otherwise). I am sorry I can't call them third rate crooks. For, that would be demeaning the third rate crooks.

Next President of india
by rajendra baru on Jun 04, 2007 02:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India had earlier made Politicians, Scholars, Scientists, lile Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Radha Krishnan, Dr.Zakir Hussian, adn Dr. Abdul Kalam respectively.I feel Politician only need not be made President of India.
I suggest that India must Honour its Armed Forces Personnel too by sending one of the Retired Outstanding General,Air Chief or Naval Chief to Rastrapathi Bhavan as India's next President.Hope Citizens and Politicians will consider this suggestion favourably .

Baru Rajendra Prasad

i strongly endorse your views.

Ideal choice would be General Padmanabhavan. A highly decorated professional who will act both with maturity and iron fist.

Is the post relevant at all?
by Vinal Gandhi on Jun 04, 2007 02:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Is the post of President , Vice President and Governers are relevant at all? They do not have any real powers. These posts are given as favors or to settle poltical scores to persons and more often then not the selected persons are not worthy of the posts. These posts waste tremendous amount of money which could be spent for better causes. The writers of our constitution had merely copied the British system and replaced the King or Queen with the President and thereby creating a large sink hole. We would be better placed to abolish these posts.

you are right. please remove all these posts, they cannot take decision on their own, they will wait for other departments to get input and consult lawyers and will keep decision pedning. (AS we saw case of afzal guru)

Should a politician become President of India?
by K Subrahmanyam on Jun 04, 2007 02:48 PM  Permalink

I do not know whether the messages expressed here are read by the persons that matter.

They need a puppet to sign and stamp at the place shown without asking any questions, that is why they are putting up one of their kind at the top post.

Dr Abdul Kalam is finding himself a misfit amongst all the corrupt and selfish politicians around him. That is why he do not want to go in for a second term.

They will now have one more of them to ruin the nation.

Political President
by Rakesh Gotri on Jun 04, 2007 02:42 PM  Permalink

YES Certainly. Being a political animal, politician will protect the interests of the unscrupulous, power hungry, greedy, corrupt, casteist and untrustworthy MPS, MLAs, CMs,PMs, Ministers both at centre and states and extra-constitutional authorities like Sonia and Rahul. All these anti social elements feel protected when there is a politician as President, because he himslef is worthy of all the characteristcs mentioned above. He cannot be sane, impartial, statesmanlike and next day neighbour like Dr.Kalam. If these fellows have any guts let them conduct a direct election and I am sure Dr.Kalam would win hands down. We Indian Like Kalam, but these anti social eloements do not want him because he is most honest INDIAN today. Particularly Communists who are antinational since they toe the line of China in every matter do not like him because their nefarious activities would attract severe condemnation from a President like Kalam. They had already experienced during the Glorious 5 year tenure of Dr.Kalam. Dr. Kalam zindabad and politicians Murdabad

President: This position is not a retirement plan for senior politicians. We want some young and dynamic person who can lead this country.

How about Rahul Gandhi? He has all the qualities mentioned by you. Perhaps we should all beseech Mdm Sonia Gandhi for this.
