Believe in God
by krishna navaneetha temple on Jun 18, 2007 07:50 AM  Permalink

Hi Mr. Ravi,
It is quite natural for you to say such matters which devides the Hindu community further, thanks to your relationship with the Congress. There are better ways of doing it, honestly, rather than making a hue and cry. As a person, i do understand your feelings but i wish you could think of it this way:
1. If you think the Priests are not secular, why dont you say anything about what is happening in Churches, where they insist on conversion to their faith if a non-xtian would want to marry a xtian? A letter would be gotten from the convert saying "done on free will"!
2. Why is it that none other than Muslims are allowed in Mecca?
3. Why is it that you could not convert your family (with due respects) to Hinduism, courtesy, Arya Samaj or even the SNDP?
4. Why do u want to destroy an existing custom of a temple( Note: Hinduism, unlike other religions, have different customs in different places)? Maybe i could give you an answer - u being with Congress.
5. More so, in your cases, I do understand that it is hard for Hinduism. But, when foreigners from ISKCON are allowed entry after proof of conversion to Hinduism, why couldnt you do the same too? Think of point no.1 and reason yourself again.
Thanks and regards

Brahminical arrogance.????
by poosapati prabhakar on Jun 17, 2007 10:32 PM  Permalink

Mr. Ravi, Are you sue that the priests have washed the temple because of your sons visit. You cannot see other side of the coin before you coment. You have seen this on the TV Cahnel as what you say thru your interview. You should know that the temples all over are washed after the darshan hours in the late hour every day. Don't try to mess up the things, already your congress has divided india into three and half countries (INDIA, PAKISTAN, BANGLADESH AND THE HALF IS JAMMU AND KASHMIR WHICH IS NEITHER INDIAN NOR PAKISTAN)and don't try to divide the balance of the country by your selfish habitual interests to gain political milage.

To All My opinion reg Brahmin domination

Dear Raman,

Iam saying this not out of fear of Hindu faith losing ground.
Nor with any vested interests. I say what I believe and think is true. Perhaps I may be wrong!!!!!!

Raman have underestimated Brahmin rigidity.
The four castes or the four varnas mentioned are Brahmins ,Kshatriyas,Vysya and Sudra,
The first three follow upanayana culture, wear Yajnopaveet(sacred thread) and chant Gayathri mantra.
So many of the upper caste Hindus we say are infact sudras. The Patels of Gujarat, Nairs of Kerala are the Sudras said by Brahmins!!!!!!!!
The people who are outcastes (Fallen from the four castes ) are the Chandalas (The OBCs, and SCs) who were treated untouchables.
The STs were considered Nishadas descendants of Nishada born to King Vena as said in puranas.

Now those who does not follow any Veda and Shruthi and Smrithi rules are Mlechas (Generally non Hindus)
Brahminism is difficult to obtain (The story of Kshatriya Viswamitra who became a Brahmin ; for which he had to undergo rigorous hardships) and difficult to maintain too.
A Brahmin who eats non -veg, does not follow the Varna Dharma and Ashrama(Brahmacharya,Grihasthasrama,Sanyasa and Vana-Prastha) is an outcaste from Brahmin hood.

In the past there were many instances of Brahmins being banished from the community (ex-communicated) due to non observance of Varna-Ashrama Dharma according to the Vedic, and Dharma sootra, Grihyasootra and Srouta sootra rules.
SO a Brahmins' life is full of hardships and

Would you shut your mouth at least in the near future.

That is why you people are not allowed because you don't what you want to speak

Brahmanical arrogance?
by ashok leyland on Jun 16, 2007 03:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am perplexed to see this being the ojbect of continued public debat. Surely this is a matter between the Vayalar Ravi family and the temple authorities.
Where is the question of dragging in the government, state's institutions or anyone else?
Just because the man is a minister the question cannot become THE most important issue in hand. There are amillion other life and death issues that the government nor this minister is inclined to take up let alone resolve.
This matter should be resolved in a private way putting pressure on the temple authorities through the help of other worhippers. The way the minister has gone about it is tantamount abuse of power.
Haven't ministers Indira Gandhi, V.V.Giri (then President) and politically connected people got into temples, had pujas performed and enjoyed private dharshans from Tirupathi to Kanyakumari or Amarnath to Pandaripur?
Where then was the indignation for the common man? Where was the need for justice placed? Where was equality or the degree of devotion that is no doubt far greater among the simple folk, rewarded or given consideration?
From this story we have learned for the nth time that in India if you are a MInister then then you can question equality, insult the Brahmin pujaris and priests, waste valuable public money and abuse of government status to change the rules of institutions that are NOT under government charge.
Will we hear Vyalar Ravi insisting that all the devotees be given equal rights on a first come first

Will we hear Vyalar Ravi insisting that all the devotees be given equal rights on a first come first served basis or will we continue to see him muscle in to celebrate other family occasions with pomp, cerimony and exclusively even if this means depriving thousands who have sacrificed time and money to pray to God?

Who is arrogant sir? the Minister abusing his power or the priest who is following albeit blindly, a centuries old tradition?

continued from above

Do you know wife of Ambedkar ? she is a brahmin lady, and he had written while providing reservation, the reservation has to be verified every 10 years and it should be extended if needed, the reservation in former days done only for to bring backward caste to be educated, and to know about the world, that is y they had given the reservation,
Now one backward ministers son will be getting reservation and grant for studies, at the same time the minister uppercaste (subordinates )car driver's son or cook son has to pay fee for the studies, so we need only economic reservation not caste wise.

Before talking any thing about the reservations and blah blah, first see the stature of ambaedkar with his finger pointing a distance and constitution in his behold? what it says?
You bloody fools follow the constitution as it is and don't meddle it. as long as you don't meddle your destination is there where we have the growth or at the same time pointing that if you meddle there is nothing emptyness(which is happening now)only politicians are there and you are always away from growth. OK.
