it is been so long i have been reading comments from apna rediff readers. They say all kind of vulgar things about Indians doing well in the US and that reflects their own complex [No, I dont want to know your opinion on it]; and then they expect every indian working abraod to donate to our country! And there is the whole club of those who think that if Indians have left the country for whatever reason then they have lost the right to point out the limitations that we have. We need to get offended about the problems that we have, not about the fact that someone pointed it out. And it is so sick to see these very my fellow indians listen to goras when they point to the same flaws; or for that matter they spew vulagarities against indians living abroad and think that we are so united and nice here while these very people say poisonous things about other indians based on colour, gender, economic status, religion, caste and what not. It just shows a lost, frustrated nation that we have become- the nation that has given up the best that it had and adopted the worst of the west; while the west learns yog, dhyan and karm, we learn the f word, the b word and think that that ought to make us better. We have such inferior complex that we dont even see it anymore.

Condescending attitude appears to be a right owned by indians who ran away to another country. If one is ashamed of their motherland and adopted a new one, it is same as being ashamed of your own mother and getting a new one. Stop looking down on any country or citizens. Learn to respect every human being. Indians living in India are not cheap, they are proud to live in their own country and contribute to it. Same goes for citizens of other countries too.
There are 3 types of Desi's in the US and all of them suck.
The first version is the Desi who has been there for 20 or so years. Their kids are the ones who compete in the spelling bees and stuff. These guys are mostly well educated and professionals who think they are more american than americans. They loathe the version 2 and 3 desis
The second version of Desi is the guys who went there as students in the 90's and settled down. these guys are really confused and try to act like americans but fail badly nor they wanna be an indian.
The third version is the software desi who is on the H1B. This is the worst lot. Cant assimilatize into the culture and keeps aloof with his family(Wife) and lives a more indian life than indians in india.Collectively they hate each other to death but act as if the indian community is the brotherhood personified.
Moral of the story is having seen it all i feel life in india is much better.

JK you seem to be one frustrated lots... You should speak for yourself for whatever category you want to be in after you go to America.
You should move there because you seem to be really disturbed by this thoughts there are desi, like you, who managed to be in America and you are like 'Angoor Khatte hain'

Funny, the way we cannot take a little dig at ourselves. It is a unique Indianess. We just canot think anything could be wrong with us right from the Rig-veda days. We have always been and continue to be great yappers about our greatneess (while the Chinkees have, wihtout learning English, moved far far ahead of us).
Why not try out something? Get these top five kids bees to India ( perhaps to Patna) and compete with 20 local kids. My guess is that they will get the first five position starting from sixteen
Is the winner going to be appointed the CEO? next The cajoling parents should be sent to prison as a model so that other parenrts will start thinking the sane way, also media should not broadcast such news

A simple news that a small kid of Indian orign and Indian name has earned that repute and that height and proficiance in language. Why the hell to be critical about? Do we always like achive a monitory gain and professional position for little goodness we show in academics and other feilds?
i just dont get it. why are indians so fascinated with spelling....even indian-americans seem to be as fascinated with cramming as fellow indians..no wonder most of the indians do not have an all-round development.
