Haneef's lawyer calls Aus minister a buffoon
by Saggitarian on Jul 30, 2007 01:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The media has become like rag pickers picking things from the dust-bins, roads and then sell to traders,in this case to the readers.
There may not be news sense though we see the photograph of this Haneef splashed on every newspaper's front page. Not to spare even Rediff
has contributed valuable space for last so many days flashing every move of this case.Instead of news value it is becoming sickening experience to watch space occupied by nonsensical matter

I agree with you. Last 20 days his picture has been flashed like none others as if news channels dont have any other news to tell. My gut feeling he is not innocent as the media is predicting. Manmohan singhs sleepless nights karnataka CM announcing a govt job all this political drama is so boring.

CHANCE for india to learn
by varun shankar on Jul 30, 2007 01:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

who is a suspect? he has been cleared of charges, what the media does is always overblown. but the thing is how responsible was the Aus media in getting the reality of it all. and the australian judiciary which actually got him released in not too bad a time.the aus government and machinery was shabby, but brilliance of the media and judiciary.
the thing indian media has to learn is not just hackism and celebrity/ sensationalist from their western counterparts but also accountability to a story and using it as a voice and cementing its place as teh fourth pillar.
also the indian judiciary has lots to learn from the aus judiciary on its fastness in dealing with the case etc. and the indian government and foriegn service were for once on the right side, keep that up.

Now a days media has exaggerating the issues too much for their publicity, TRP ratings and money. They are selling the news. These people should learn where to draw the line. There was no need for creating so much of hype over Haneef's issue.

Dr Haneef in India
by RABI KANUNGO on Jul 30, 2007 01:04 PM  Permalink

Better if greater fuss over the issue is avoided, because Mr Russo has to fight the case to a logical end. Haneef's case must remain as pointer for all countries.
