The Australian and Police gave lot of torture and victimized him for no reason.
They wanted someone to be put under the new anti-terror law (as elections are coming shortly in Australia), so they have put an innocent man behind bars. The Australian public and media criticized the Government and Police for this and finally without having any proof against Haneef they had to release him.
Now, What we want from Australia is 1) Pay for the damnages done to Haneef and India. 2) Aplogies to Haneef and India.
If they can't do the above things then the Australian public should vote against the government in the coming elections.

You are right. Now, its Aussie govt duty to release some statement of apologising to Haneef and Indian govt and they should announce some reward for Haneef. And Autralian govt should have serious discussions with Indian govt to fight against terrorism.

You can bring resources but not respect. So the day every single Indian is treated at par...shall we think of working together with the whites. Even if we have to remain 20 years behind...but let us build India on our own...The only thing we Indians have to give up is greed and corruption and you see we shall inshallah achieve developed status before 2020 set by Mr Kalam. We can have our own NASA and can get far ahead of the west. Look at China... Korea and other such countries....God Bless India..

This is India and terrorists who killed hundreds and admitted on TV interviews, terrorists who killed Air Force personnel and the likes have become heroes in this country and Afzal is already an International hero...thanks to Indian dirty politics and its Modern Media particularly the TV News channels like NDV< IBN< ZEE etc etc.

i think one thing we should understand is that everybody likes to live in their own country , but circumstances force people to go abroad as the cost for living in india is going up and also we are paid poorly compared to foreign countries.nobody is going abroad because of greed but due to their family liabilities and the salary here is not good enough for meeting their commitments. That is changing now in india , that's heartening. And also you have to remember that the foreign money flown to india by these NRI's is very important for our country's devolopment.

It is ridiculous and an act of utter callousness. The Australian police should think twice before framing charges to any persons in future. It is unimaginative of the ordeal this innocent guy has gone through. We are all equally concerned about the terrorist threat perception it does not mean that all Muslims are terrorists. It is high time for all the terrorist group to give up arms otherwise some innocent guys may be framed charges like this in future. What for all these!
The Auzzie govt. stance thru this whole fiasco highlights one stark fact : that non-whites can be subjected to any arbitrary treatment without impunity.. seems like days of colonial attitudes aren't over yet ! Would a white person have gone thru the same torment..I have strong doubts!

That's the reason that countries like US, UK, Australia do not get colonised by other countries. Unlike India where if an outsider wants to suck your blood, you yourself will invite and offer your blood in a cup. Think about it. It takes a good governance and basic sincerity to protect your home, your country and yourself, which people of these countries have.
I think we should thank the Australian Govt. In India law and order is not so smooth and stright forward as in Aus. True. In India, If police get mistaken in a case like this (of internation attention).. they may just encounter him and close the case.
I donot want to blame any govt. But I feel both the govt. reacted well in time and we should thank for that. In anybody case, it can happen. As there is a mistake from Haneef side too.
So he should feel happy that Aus govt. gave him proper judgement. Sreenath

I also agree with sreenath. Imagine in a similar case in India; the person would have been interrogated using third degree and at the end he would have been shot. I do appreciate aus govt.

Isn't it shameful that we fight each other at the drop of a hat. I was aghast seeing this message board. Each one is at every other throat. Does religion hold so much prominence in our lives. There is no bigger religion than humanity. Foster peace and friendship. Sorry for sounding so preachful.
