New President of India Madam Pratibha Patil, this simple GOD given gift
real HINDUSTAN.

It is certainly a proud moment for
every progressive thinking Indian,

N - Deal Benefits India
by vikas sethi on Jul 27, 2007 11:49 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Nuclear Deal definitely benefits India. Not only in civilian energy sector but it is a path breaking deal which will benefit most areas where dual use (civilian & military) technologies are used. In today's era, most technology is dual use. It will immensely benefit ISRO too & will eventually get technology for Indian Defence Industries.

No doubt we have developed a lot on ur own. But tech transfer will benefit us in the long run and in multiple fields. The US needs India as much as we need the US for technology.

My contention to all those who oppose the deal is very plain and simple. If someone has already invented a circle, why should we waste time, money and effort to reinvent the same. Buy off the technology and then use our brains and money to move forward from there. We will reach up higher, faster and surer. We need to think of our growth and of our self interest.

A ship is always safe at the shores or in the dockyard but that is not what it is built for. Let us show more confidence and belief in our own country and in its abilities. We are a strong country and let us take on the world from a position of strength.

RE:N - Deal Benefits India

Hey genius, are you aware that our nuclear weapons capabilities are not fully developed yet? With this N-Deal, there is the danger that India will not conduct further tests, in order to improve its weapons to deter China & Pak, both of whom have more advanced weapons than India. What do we do then?

Also, don't forget that thorium gives India much more independence, which other powers seek to take away.

This is a report trying to build up media story to whip up sagging Congress
by Tathagata Mukherjee on Jul 27, 2007 11:19 AM  Permalink

This is a report trying to build up media story to whip up sagging Congress morale.

This is too early to say unless full text is out.

India should NOT put all its eggs in USA basket. It needs lots of strategic thinking, statesmanship to handle that.

Question is, does MM Singh has that stature? OBVIOUSLY NOT. BECAUSE HE IS NOT EVEN ELECTED BY PEOPLE.

For US it is a big issue to back on Nuclear power / Not for India.
by ASHOK on Jul 27, 2007 10:42 AM  Permalink

After 3 mile island accident in US, ( which did not result in human life loss) but around same time Horrible Chernobyl experience ( Russia has very poor safety records and 3rd grade technology. resulted in loss of a lot of human lives). US pulled the plug on futher expansion of Nuclear power plants.

But since than, world demand on Crude oil and Gas has gone up. Somewhere from 1995 onwards US started closing quite a few of its crude oil refineries also. ( To save its local environment)

So US needs Refined Crude (Gasoline / Diesel etc.) At the same time China / India / Russia are moving up on Crude oil needs.
India population is more than 3 times US, if we start consuming oil at the same per capita rate as is US than world oil resource will be wiped out in no time. Hence it becomes important that we go nuclear while trying best to buy as much oil blocks as we can and have.

But remember that BPO job in India or setting up a 100% export oriented Refinery in India saves energy need or Carbon dioxide emmission to the country for whom we did BPO job or Refined the crude.

That is what US will try, it will offshore that work which gives it maximum carbon credits.

US is already pulling out of Crude oil refineries. Most of them will be close to the place where crude oil is produced.

Ofcourse for stretegic reasons US will not close all its Nuclear plants or oil refineries or petrochemical plants.

one sided reporting by Sheela Bhatt

Wonder who is paying Ms. Bhatt for this one sided reporting of the matter.
Read the language ' A BJP leader tole.....'
'A Senior BJP Functionary....', or 'Vajpayee didn't speak, Arun Shourie tried to argue....'
or even saying 'deal is done'

Rediff should increase the salary of its writers so that they don't seek favours by writing.
