At the end, the US is going to say that the agreement is not in its national interest. The Manmohan govt will realise their mistake of wasting the time, energy and people's money only at that time.
Please remember the question of the Manmohan govt. realizing their mistake will never arise. For all you know they (Cogress govt.) could well be in the pay of the Americans.
