India has already reaped the benefit of its enhanced status in the west. India got everything it wanted without giving anything away. India did not budge on a single thing %u2013 it can reprocess, can have weapons program, is not subject to any inspection of weapons facilities and can even test new devices. India has become a de facto superpower.
The country owes tons of gratitude to Dr. Singh. We are really fortunate to have him as our PM. He charmed President Bush and convinced him that India is its most important t strategic partner the west can have. West needs India%u2019s brain. It shares same values. This whole thing is the recognition that along with Japan, India will be considered just like a developed western country despite belonging to Asia.
With current 9% growth rate, India%u2019s GDP will double every eight years. This has been possible because of Dr. Singh and his pro-growth, pro-western policy.
thirty years ago the americans changed the international laws regarding nuclear technology. it gave birth to the NPT and the NSG. all this was done to keep india at bay. and now the same america after trying every trick in the book has failed to make india change its position. we are still holding on to our position of 1974. we are a nuclear power state. now america has to change to again change its domestic laws as well as international laws to make way for india. we have got evrything we wished for:- 1. we can have our own independant weapons program. 2. we can carry out R&D in the fast breeder reactors, which we will not have to put up for inspection. 3. we will get non-stop supply of nuclear fuel, not just from the us,but also from other countries like russia and france. 4. we will get the right to reprocess and enrich spent fuel - which till date only japan and switzerland have. 5. even if we conduct a nuclear test in the future a jt. indo-us panel will be set up to decide on the circumstances leading to test. even if us has to cut-off supply other countries will be allowed to continue.
i am really happy that even after all these years of struggle our position has been vindicated.
This is incredible, the cabinet committee barely met for an hour (maybe even less) and signed off on the treaty without asking any questions. This treaty must be ratified in the parliament with a 2/3rds vote or else it must be rejected. We need to make sure that the constitution is amended henceforth. Its an unbelievable flaw in the constitution that head of the cabinet signs on to a treaty and his cabinet has to approve it. Remove this power from the cabinet and make treaty approvals go through the same process as electing a president.

What is there to discuss? This whole thing has been discussed thousand times. All of India's concerns have been addressed. All of her demands have been met. It is India 1, USA 0.
This is a great victory for Dr. Singh. It is time for communists to shut up. Patriotic parties like BJP is hundered percent behind the treaty as are 1.2 billion Indians.

Where is the text? What has been discussed? After you sign an agreement you must discuss it and get it ratified by 2/3rds of the parliament. Here we are ratifying before we get the approval of the opposition. BJP is not for this treaty nor are the scientists at the Atomic Energy Commission. If the communists torpedo this agreement then great. As much as i dislike the commies, i dislike this agreement even more. Maybe this is the make-up that the commies do for not backing the indian independence movement. As far Mr Singh is concerned the less said the better, after all he cant sleep at nights because Mom's of terrorists who blow up innocent people are in anguish when their children are caught or die in their dastardly deeds.

What are u going to do with power deficiency when yr neigboring countries China and Pak nuke the shit out of you - this nuke deal is only good for american business who will sign long term power contracts with Indian power utilities and profit big time from it. There are many ways to reduce power deficiency by utlising alternative sources of energy and creating a policy at the center and grass root level which would encourage local entrepreneurs to develop such alternative sources of energy. Microfinance can encourage villagers to become self-reliant and invest in such renewable sources of energy. and dont even try to guess how much money the Indian politicians are going to get out of this deal - so who benefits - american businesses and indian politicians - do not be surprised that all these dumbf..k politicans like sharad pawar, laloo receive a big fat paycheck from american businesses constrcuting nuclear plants

How did they destroy kerala? 1) Kerala is most literated state in India? 2) Kerala has high life expectancy and the best health sector in India which is even accessible to poor. 3) Despite of the fact that there are nearly 44% minorities living in Kerala (muslims and Christians) there is absolutely no communal clash. 4) If you visit kerala, u will realise that there is absolutely no class difference or no cast difference among the society like in North India. sajan, its not the result of communism. Result of Commies are unemployment, No industry, no ugriculture. Before the first Commu govt Kerala was self sufficient for food grains and vegitables, for vote gaining unplaned land distribution killed all farms and agriculture. There is no substitute provided for farming when the farm lands distributed. present situation if one week lary strike kerala people have no food. kerala is a consumer market only. have to depend everything other states. Educated or skilled youths of kerala going otside state or abroad for jobs. 100 % litracy desn't mean all well educated. many other states in india without any communal riots not only kerala. all other states are fast growing with idustry and infrastructure development what is the status of Kerala, is there any good road in Kerala. in kerala for 100kms travel by road will take atleast 3-4 hrs. each and every town 4 or five days in a week with political or tradeunions processions disturbing comen mans normal life.
Just realise the real developments of gods own country with communism.

Yes kerala is communal free society - coz muslims and chrishtens have all the freedom that they want. Same theroy is applicable for West bengal
Go back in history and you would be able to read a page or two on Malabar riots and reason behind those crazy acts of your ancestors.
Muslims wants all the shops/restaurant closed during Ramazan and Kerala govt sees nothing wrong in it.
State with most literacy send most of the unskilled labor force to Gulf countries.
Guys, before making any comments about the caste ridden north indian society - please have a thorough understanding of your own society. Tamilnadu, Kerala and most of the southern states have highest percentage of caste based reservations in the country. If the society is free from all the evils of caste based discremination then these reservations would not have been there.
Communists and Congress are the real evils - sooner we get rid of them we would be on our path to fulfil president Kalam's vision 2020.
