We should elect our prime minister directly, and combine it into the post of the president, like the American system, and make that person responsible for the Administration of the country. At least then the MPs and MLAs will not have the power to corrupt the administrations. There is too much power in the hands of the MPs and MLAs.
I, being a woman, I am proud of a woman President of this Nation. I congratulate Mrs. Pratibha Patil as the President of India! I also admire her to be the first Indian woman President of India! Madam, please ensure that you are able to build this ancient India with high traditions of culture to glitter and shine in the entire world as a neutral person without any politics! Komal, you are begging something to your madam, which is far-far beyond her reach. What she can do is 'just to shake her head indicating "yes"' to her lady boss for each and every issues and nothing else your madam can do.
Sonia and her lobby have nominated Pratibha Patil fully knowing her past scams.Infact,she wanted a puppet who can dance to her tunes.As Pratibha is involved in deep scandals she cannot go against the wishes of Sonia.This is the real motive of Left and Sonia.Shivraj Patil,Pranab Mukherjee and Karan Singh lacked this 'credentials' according to Left and Sonia. Smart move by Congress.

Indira Gandhi's husband Feroze was a parsi and had surname Gandhi. They have surnames based on professions like Mistry, Engineer etc. and Gandhi is one of them.

Yes KA. That's due to the proportional representation system of voting, which says the more you copulate and populate, the more votes they tabulate.
Therefore, "while MPs have a uniform value of 708 for each vote, the value of an MLA's vote differs from state to state with UP accounting for a maximum value of 208 whereas Sikkim accounts for the lowest value of seven for each vote."

We always reward Bimaru states with more representation, funds and watnot for their failures. Whereas my district which had 2 MLA constituencies was reduced to just one cos the population was too less for 2 MLAs.Its a different matter that my district has 83% literacy and has had the least population growth in last 2 decades (~7%/decade). Instead of rewarding us they rob us of representation. God save India.
Mr. Abdul Kalam fled from putting AFZAL to Gallows..If Shmt. Patil gives orders to Hang AFZAL..She will be greatest President of India..
I think Abdul Kalam was also puppet to central govt. and Pratibha has to show what is made up of, She definitly has experience as she was Governor of Rajasthan..
Only time will tell...Anyway Best of luck to first women president of India..Hope she shows some metal like women PM Indira.

Why Narender modi is not sentence to hang for the 1000 of minority killed on his order?
I think this is a great day for India. We have a female President. Some on made a comment that they have never heard of her, lets be serious. Most Indian President are unknown, Dr Kalam was a exception to the rule. Plus a President is not like the PM , Very limited and symbolic leader.
All Indians need to remember one thing. Principle of democracy. Once the votes are counted the winner takes the office and every one must back that person. Its not about a individual but state representative. We must show unity with in and not division. We are not PAKISTAN !
She is now the President and must be shown the respect from all Indians.
She deserves that. Won with a land slide margin which speaks volumes.
I dont know who this Pratibha Patil is? Never heard abt her before president's election....What work has she done in past for ppl? Good lord save this country from SONIA GANDHI. Real sad day in the history... :-(
