I am very surprised at the type of abusive & downright irrelevent issues being discussed by various respodents.
Is it not the fact that once she is elected as the President, she represents the majority of us Indians. Is it not correct that we have elected MPs & MLAs? This being a fact, the President is also elected by us. The malicious messages personally abusing Sonia does not make sense because we Indians have given her the majority. If she was not the right person, why did we elect her?
It is the system which has encouraged the kind of people who are dominating the Indian politics & if messages are send with suggestions with respect to this issue, then the debate is fruitful, the rest being junk & waste of time & effort.

In democracy, it is the majority which elects. It is unimportant as whether you personally voted for her or not. Again there is abuse against some of us Indians. Can you please suggest remedial actions rather than continuing in the same vein, which is not expected from intelligent Indians, on this serious issue.

Every one knows how Prativa mam going to win. In my opinion 90% peopole are not in favour of Prativa Mam. She may be the president but never get respect from our heart. We can't tell our self that a great person in the chair of President.

Democracy at work. It is nice to see even presidents are selected by proper election and system. Unlike most of the members in the forum, I am actually proud of what is happening. Character assasination of Pratibha Patil is nothing but conspiracy theories and politically motivated. Its time we believe in the system. Also, she being compared to Kalam is also not fair. Kalam had glamor but brought in very few changes to India (he himself accepted that he should have achieved more). Cmon guys dont rely on conspiracy theories and blacken indian democracy
