I feel sorry for the poeple of India, we have a dummy PM and now a dummy President, both are in position because of Sonia, and we all know who would be calling the shots.

Very unfortunate situation for the country.

Hyderabadi-Sarkar, you cannot obviously see beyond your Maratha caste and the Marathi language intests. Hence your worship for Patil. Sonia is a dictator who has the PM and the president in her pocket (when she is wearing jeans with pockets in them that is).

doesn't matter who you are and where you are from. from your comments you are coming across as someone who has done nothing but sucking butts of gandhi family members and can't see beyond the contours of the same.
and you believe in democracy then go to the educated indian population who have enough sense of right and wrong to see if this puppet of sonia would have any chance in the world to get elected as the president..
majority of us would reserve their judgment on how she performs given that she is already elected but given that she was not worthy enough to be even vaguely familiar to us means she was not doing anything useful in her life..
but it is sad to see such that indian polity has stooped so low.. it could have happened only under present congress leadership.. you can estimate the intellect and ability of the mother from the comments the son makes in public..

Everyone keeps abusing each other. Wats the use a purpose of a President or PM whose a mere puppet in the hands of so called SONIA. Whatever...... India might be becoming better and economy might be improving a lot... there are whole lot of things going into this... INDIA would be a super power or a no.1 economy when these politicians shed and come of mere puppet show....

I know India might be growing, but where is the democracy? Do millions of uneducated people even know what they are voting for except for following the crowd and melting under peer, political, social or financial pressure.

Indian politics is a mess, and we have seen the president's position being politicized as well.
Except putting her rubber stamp to the papers where sonia would want, what other contribution can she make to the country at such a crucial developing stage and replacing a man like Abdul Kalam who atleast has had a vision of india as super power even when he was a young scientist....pathetic decision i believe.

Congratulations to Mrs.Pratibha Patil, President of India
by Prash on Jul 22, 2007 03:07 AM  Permalink

Dear Friends, Let us congratulate our newly elected President of India Mrs.Pratibha Patil. It is a great honour for all the citizens of India to have first lady President. She got elected with over 3 lacs votes%u2019 margin to her (nearest?) remotest rival. The victory margin is nothing but that many slaps on the faces of the people who still living in delusion and hatred campaign propagated by media and the vested interest. I hope the citizen of India will learn to respect the Highest Post holder of the country, the nation, people's representatives in various state assemblies, parliament and most importantly the common people who decides whole affair of this country. Long live Democracy and Shame on hatred and communalism.

Male chauvinism
by Sunita Ramnani on Jul 22, 2007 03:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think this is male chauvinism at its worst. Men are unable to accept the fact that a woman is now occupying the highest office. First Mayawati and now Prathiba Patil Are men feeling insecure that women have started to dominate even in politics

RE:Male chauvinism

Sunita, it is Hippocratic to call this as Male Chauvinism. All Women politcal leaders are corrupt. Indira Gandhi, Jayalalitha, Mayawathi, Lalu's wife, Prathiba Patil, etc....There are good Male leaders Mahatma Gandhi, Vajpayee etc....

Women has a much more important role than coming to politics or occupying higher posts in public or private organization.

Its is only an women who can groom a good family. A Good Family means well cultured and well behaved kids. If we have all Family like this then the society is good , if society is good, state is good, if state is good country is good.

I respect women. I worship my mom. She is the greatest person in earth for me. I Respect my wife, she is the backbone for my family.

Women should Stop working at office unless and until situation demands. Taking care of home and raising children is more important than anything else. Most of the worldly problem can be resolved if women plays a correct role in Family......

Sunita Ramnani , you seem to be brainwashed after living in the west and seem to have picked 'I am the victim' mentality. Her gender was never an issue. Her being a bootlicker servant with no ethics, principals, courage or morality was the core issue. But with your vested intrests, I don't think these values matter to you.

Sunita, we Men are not at all insecure about Women getting to some higher seats. Don't forget its we men who give them these opportunities to do so. We want women to feel equal and free in their Life. And yes they say that "there is always a woman behind every succesful man" but "there are Lot of of Man (supporters) behind woman's success. With Due Respect.

Finally after all the opposition and all what not ...we have got the First Woman President of Republic India ... I am confident she will prove everyone wrong (who have dismissed her even without giving her a chance) and do some good to the upliftment of Women in INDIA... she is from the land which gave us First Women School Teacher/ Revolutioner Mrs Savitri Phule ...hope she will do the same and change the status of Women in India ... people wearing Coat and So called Modern may find it hard to accept a simple lady wearing SARI as their President ... so be it ... but she represent millions of Indian women in the rural India which has been left behind in the race of Gobalization .... I wish her the very best .... and may God give her the courage to take some GOOD DECISIONS ...

Great contribution of Soniya Madam- 1st women president of india. This has only happened due to her leadership. No indian origin leader had guts to do historical things.

Cheers to Soniya and congrats to Prathiba patil.
