As per our constitution, this condition facilitates that the person has support from various parts of India would be a capable candidate for the post of PM & might do justice to the hounorable post.
This is rational thinking but on the flip side, it's necessary to have re-election for the other places from where the candidate later di n't wish to hold the place. This puts strain on our system from every aspect, be it from finance, politics, civilian facility burden etc.
How much of that is followed in practice...well we all know!
Article 52 of the Indian Constitution states "There shall be a President of India". Article 53(1)vests in the President the executive powers of the Union which are exercised by him either directly or through officers subordinate to him in accordance with the Constitution. Although the Constitution explicitly says that the president is the executive head of the state, real executive power is exercised by the Council of Ministers, headed by the Prime Minister. This is inferred from Article 74 of the Indian Constitution, providing for a "... council of ministers to aid and advise the President who shall, in exercise of his functions, act in accordance with such advice".

And what did you think your generation have acheived in its life time Huh... Does your generation even understand the basics of DEMOCRACY? Do you know that there are ways to to contribute to your country even while sitting in CANADA? What is the Electoral college system in India that elects the President? Can you please explain me?

what is your generation achieving today? We'd be glad to know how you sitting on India are contributing to the country. If you think that 70 year olds should sit back and not do anything, then you are old beyond your time. Learn your history, these people were born in British India and have lived through the Independence movement, so you can bet they know more than you about democracy! Maybe you don't agree with what this lady says, at least she takes interest in India even though she is abroad for a short while.

pariot when you will die nobody should ask chutiyee, saley, Bhadawe
sonia does not care two hoots for india. Its time indians and congress stop falling at her feet groveling like dogs. No self respect at all. She is the marie antoinette who deserves to be executed. And the president. What credentials does she have? APJ Kalam had fantastic credentials. This is not about BJP or Congress And to all people who are calling BJP communal. Hope someday the muslims cme and convert you which they will because congress does not do anything about it. I find it hard to believe that any hindu not hate a muslim after centuries of repressions and slaughter. Either such hindus are cowards or hypocrites. Be a hindu first.

Sonia has provided better leadership than any of the BJP leaders. You just hate her because she was born in a foreign country.
