Welcome back to the era of
by Ravi on Jul 22, 2007 08:36 AM  Permalink

Thats certainly a sad news, who is Pratibha Patil !!!?. Are there any humans left amongst these scoundrels now? Cant even compare the calibre, the level of thinking and vision which our honorary ex president Dr. A.P.J. Kalam had brought to the office with this esteemed post. After a long time we had someone who was loved and respected by the masses for his thoughts, vision, values and more importantly "indianness".

It's a shame!!!
by santanu sarkar on Jul 22, 2007 08:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

After much controversy, hue and cry, finally the UPA nominee Pratibha Patil, a veteran congress leader from Maharashtra was declared elected as the new President of the Republic of India. She won by a margin of more than three lakh votes. Some may welcome, some may grudge and some are frustrated in their effort to stop her, but sure there's one person gonna smile all the way. Sonia Gandhi the unnamed most powerful lady not only in the Government but in the entire country today and she steals the show yet again.

Even when the leftists tried to put their own terms for the Presidential Elections, their support may raise many eyebrows in their own backyard in the next assembly elections surely. Finally who's the winner all the way, beyond doubt it's Sonia again. You love it or have it, you've to take it, she's there all over and just take a look at her company in the vengence to NDA...Lalu Prasad, Mayawati, Arjun Singh...should we count more...They're all powerful today and they've got their trophy "Chief of the State" in the guise of the First Woman President in the largest democracy in the world.

Many have voted the outgoing VP, many had to support the UPA nominee just to remain in the power equation, new allies joined in greed, some caught in the crossroads in their fundamentalist principles to support a home candidate or a long term ally and many abstained...Still here's the winner and that's what only matters...

I've just only one simple question in my mind,

Status of Indian politics in the eve of 60 years of democracy
by zyx on Jul 22, 2007 08:29 AM  Permalink

What happened in the presidential election shows the present political status in India. We are still politically backward country, even though we are celebrating our 60 years of democracy and improvement in our economy in the recent years. Corruption seems to be a qualification to become a politician and get elected to the higher posts. I have been reading the comments, ever since the presidential election campaign started and over 75 percent bloggers posted their comments against Pratibha patil. It shows that newer generation of Indian people are feed-up of family based politics in India and they want the change. But our political mind set is still buried in early 40s and 50s era. In the past presidential elections, for my knowledge, I did not hear the amount of allegations and comments heard in the present presidential elections and with all this, Pratibha patil manage to in the election, thanks to Sonia and spineless congress party and its leaders. Overwhelming negative opinion about Pratibha patils candidacy for the presidential post did not affect the political will of Sonia and this shows pathetic condition of the Indian democracy, where politicians have the power to mold the peoples verdict as they wanted and whenever they wanted. God bless India, we do not need another foreign rule.

Mrs Patil wins
by my message on Jul 22, 2007 08:20 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Actually we need to wish India a lot of luck as it will now be headed by a person alleged to be tainted. This will add on to the already big problems of dummy PM and a Super PM (not even of Indian origin) and key allies who are hypocrates.
