India elect its first tainted citizen
by anish dharwadkar on Jul 22, 2007 11:14 AM  Permalink

So india Atlast elected its first citizen after so much controversies.

Only one position in INDIA was ZERO tainted, Now it has become 100% Tainted, thanks to our NETAJIS & SONIA. We are feeling proud to call ourself INDIANS, who gives equal preference to women as proved by the presidential election, Notwithstanding of what background or past this present First citizen is having. I would also like to congratulate Shivsena For supporting Prathibha Patil for being a Maharastrian. This shows how shivsena is functioning. They call themselves nationalist, then how come they are thinking about their state first rather than nation. Shivsena is loosing its charm & balasaheb His mental balance. Slowly it is following Congress way of life.

Any way all the best to our new First Citizen.

Shame on us Indians.......
by Out0f BOX on Jul 22, 2007 11:09 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Shame on us Indians to choose a tainted woman to choose president. Our political parties simply have no charecter and their acts are shameless in every which way. There were so many women much better than patil. The only PRATIBHA she seems to have is nepotism, looting public money and talking nonsense.

You are very right that for the first time we have at helm a person who has done nothing but made gud with her share of loot of public money. How can we equate her with likes of Rajendera Prasad and Dr. Kalam, even the dirt on the feet of these ppl was better then this prez.

Prez poll
by kskumar on Jul 22, 2007 11:09 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It seems there are a lot of professional fault finders in this forum, who do not like to face facts about PP and the Prez election. Their irrational anger against Kalam has them rooting for PP.

We had a P [eople's] P [resident] so far and now we will have a P [arty] P [uppet] now.

Regionalism
by sachin arun mahajan on Jul 22, 2007 10:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

One more issue which essentially I would like to mention on this discussion board is "Regionalism".

What is emerge that this Presidential election shows how India is moving ahead on "Regionalism".

If this trend of Regional Pride continue above National Pride,it may difficult for India to maintain its sorveginity.

Who knows tommorrow every state start demanding their own freedom based on Caste/politics/Language.

Better we should leave regionalism & think on Nationalism.

It is expected from New President to force Bi-party system only.

PLEASE SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR THE POST

Write only if you know what you are writing. Write logically and not emotionally. President and PM of this country are esteemed posts. Please show some respect when you write about people holding these posts. You should write only if you can corroborate the garbage you write. No ordinary person can rise to and hold such important political posts for such a long time even if he/she has a famous Sir name. Both Shekhawat and Patil have had a distinguished political carrier and have been elected by their constituents on various occasions. Dr. Kalam is a good human being but he definitely did not make a extra ordinary President. Name one extra ordinary act which he did as a President. Remember President rule in Bihar. Dr. Kalam agreed to the Govt. proposal. Presidents are mere rubber stamp of the present day Govt. We should be more worried who are PM is! Person holding the PM post can make or break the country's future. Once again my request to all, please do not write emotionally. Write logically and for the betterment of this country. Jai Bharat.

RE:PLEASE SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR THE POST
by Pawan Singh on Jul 22, 2007 11:14 AM  Permalink
Ranjan, you have hold of your tail.

The issue is not reason alone though that in this instance has been heavily compromised: Why was Kalam not supported by the Congress when he had 86% of the country rooting for him? Why was Pratibha mouthing platitudes to respond to the serious charges levelled against her and submitted in a court of law? Indeed, what is her claim to wisdom and sobriety with all her foot in the mouth statements post nomination?

Anyway, in matters of State the issue is not Reason alone. People do not respond to reason as each person has her/his own perspective. The need is a commitment to mobilise the minds of the people. The only commitment that Congress has is to mobilise its own power and it has consistently misused it. Bihar and Buta Singh are an example. After this sad episode in the honeymoon period Kalam sought to peg the Congress back and fell out of favour.

Kalam had the honesty. The widespread fear is that for Pratibha loyalty shall have first priority. After all, who hand held her into office?

I suppose all Presidents except Kalam were constitutionally correct all the time. Don't just talk of Bihar, talk of Jharkhand and the Office of Profit Bill. As for the extraordinary act, the fact he did not misuse his position nor did he allow his family to do so. He refused to put in a word for his grand nephew for an engineering seat, saying that the boy had to come up on merits. Can you say the same about PP? Moreover, he has encouraged research in bio implants and open source software and was also instrumental in starting the digitization of valuable works of Indian writers. If you want the complete list, do your homework and don't expect others to do it for you.

she will be better than george bush
by camalgrace on Jul 22, 2007 10:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

the new president will be better than george bush

1. she can speak better english ( no error in syntax)

2. she will not wage war against innocents and call that 'war against terrorism'

3. she will not bomb children and women and call that 'collateral damage'

4. she will not go against the wishes of the majority and the senate and continue a barbarious war

5. She will not give contract to her relatives in any war.

not only against Abdul Kalam, who was looking for a 'militarist macho india'- rather than a socially inclusive country.

Hope Pratibha Patil, will think of thousands people who do not go to school. Not only those kids who can understand the great talks of Dr Kalam.

strong india is not strong arms. Burke said the 'strength of a nation is its educated gentry'

EDUCATED INDIA CAN OVERTHROW PAKISTAN OR CHINA. WE ARE ALREADY DOING IT.

NO NUCLEAR BOMBS

NO NUCLEAR SUBMARINES

BUT GREAT SCHOOLS

GREAT TEACHERS AND

GREAT ATMOSPHER.

WE WILL OVERTHROW US AS A SUPER POWER. THEY HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE, USED AS A WEAPON.

We will use the human resource, educate all and be a model of great development.

very well said friend
but i don't agree with ur view abt Dr.Kalam
He has proposed a research programme for developing bio-implants. He is a supporter of Open source software over proprietary solutions and believes that the use of open source software on a large scale will bring more people the benefits of information technology. although he is missile man of india, he was never overlooked other dimensions.
and besides don't we need enough means to defend ourselves from enemies?

I am strongly against choosing of Pratibha Patil as President. She doesn't have the credentialns to become president. Hes statement about Burqa has hurt the sentiments of Muslims. Her alleged role in saving her brother is another big thing to worry.
