IF ITS AN ANTI-NATIONAL DEAL, WHY IS THE BJP KEEPING QUITE ??? ONLY THE COMMUNISTS & PRO-PAKISTANI ELEMENTS ARE OBJECTING, THUS IT IS ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT THE DEAL IS USEFUL TO INDIA BECAUSE THE THE COMMUNISTS & PRO-PAKISTANI GANG ARE TRYING THEIR BEST TO SCUTTLE IT.

Well said. In fact BJP was the one to initiate it in the first place. But they began opposing it bcos they felt the Congress will get away with all the kudos. Their terms of the deal were much worse than the Congress.
How we wish that the opposition behaves in India's interest & not its own, like the US where what comes foremost is American interest and nothing else. Its INDIA that must come first, always.
Will this drama ever end? For the past year or so, nuclear deal finalised, getting finalised, on death knell. can the UPA ever do somethin right. Sick Govt. Sick decision making.
Its a significant to note we have made a breakthrough in talks with the US on much awaited 123 agreement. Hope we are not accepting too much especially our freedom to maintain minimum nuclear weapon or further tests. We can\'t avoid nuclear power considering the fact the two neighbours China and Pakistan have nuclear weapons. Anyways reaching a final accord will be benefiting both nations and more to India.
It is the most unfortunate turn of events for India's nuke development program. All along, India's nuke isolation by the western world had been the greatest blessing. It helped our scientists to think independently -in fact, without the western bias- in their strategic planning as well as at the lab floor level. This was the reason for our scientists striking out into uncharted territories of nuke science basic research. Looking at all the imposed contraints, they perforce had to think of fast-breeder reactor technology to breed new fuel from available but dangerously depleting natural reserves. Even this they understood would not carry the civil nuke program far into the future. They then conceived of the thorium conversion as the 3rd stage of nuke program. While the western scientists laughed and jeered the Indian concept, our scientists ploughed on tirelessly with dedication for over 20 years to convert their bold, maverick concept into nuts and bolts reality! About 3 years ago the western scientists were stunned and left gaping in disbelief when the FB test reactor went critical succefully breeding fuel as predicted to the third decimal!! That is when the US hatched this abominable 123 Hatchet Plan. Unfortunately for India, but fortunately for the US, the UPA came to power handing over the reins to the corrupt Congress party. Then again, US was lucky dealing with a weak and pliant PM, Manamohan Singh, who strictly took orders from #10 Janpath without any reservations.

Mr Chakrvarty has shown a technically sound concern about retaining our nuclear ingenuity advantage even after implementation of 123 deal with US. Chairman, of Indian Atomic Energy Commission, who was part of the discussions, must have already taken care of our apprehensions. i agree, that due care has also to be exercised by reading in between the lines of the confidential draft of agreement before putting on it, the Indian Cabinet stamp. surely its a beneficial deal to both the countries only if America do not cheat as usual. only threat to this deal is America's very very low reliability factor. thats why India is so catious. hyde act says India should not test nuke, otherwise it was very simple. Why America do not want democratic India to test nuke while Pakistan with military dictator is making another reactor.

ITS A HOPELESS CASE
THE BEST SCIENTISTS FROM INDIA HAVE LEFT TO AMERICA
only those whose visa has been rejected remain behind
TWO SCIENTISTS FROM INDIA HAVE WON NOBEL PRIZE FOR USA (KHORANA, CHANDRASEKHAR) WHILE ONLY ONE HAS WON NOBEL PRIZE FOR INDIA (C.V.RAMAN) AND THAT TOO IN 1930 BEFORE INDEPENDENCE.
SHOWS CLEARLY INDIAN SCIENTISTS PREFER TO WORK FOR AMERICA BECAUSE MERIT IS RECOGNIZED
remaining local mediocre scientists are just giving empty claims about developing thorium reactors. its not possible when the best scientist have left to america. recators in india are built with russian or american collaboration. most defence projects have failed eg. arjun tank, tejas fighter. the few that have succeeded such as brahmos & isro are done with massive russian help.
either sign the deal with a america OR the NPT, else the nuclear plants run out of fuel soon.

Inkypinky, you sure are a donkey! All your arguments are not obviously most illogical. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are definitely a failure in life. And you have developed this habit of monotonously repeating the same thing for everything, everywhere. Please do this country a great favour by emigrating to the US. I am sure, you will be an utter failure wherever you go and get kicked out without remorse.

Nobel prizes are not the only crteria to judge the brilliancy. those who did not win Nobel have also invented hundreds of novel inventions through out the world including India.
It is great.Real win win deal!india gets uranium,American investment in reactors and high technology for industry and retains the right for testing without call back of equipments.U S A gets an invesment destination,an ally against the domineering chinese and a buyer for high technology. The losers are the Pakis and the Chinese.Good for a change!
It is good news that India and US have reached an agreement on contentious 123 text. What is worth waiting for is how much US has agreed to oft stated Indian demands on matters of reprocessing right on spent fuel and on the continuous supply of fuel, in case India goes ahead with another explosion either for refinement of existing weapon stockpile or development of new weapons. Let us not forget that India has not yet reached the level of technical capability where it can calculate weapon yields purely on basis of high speed simulation, we still do not have fast enough supercomputers. It remains to be seen how long a leash US is willing to lend India in its attempt to counter Chinese factor. On other side, India is known for succumbing on negotiation tables. Let us therefore not call it a breakthrough yet. It has to first clear both Indian and US legislatures and then the text of the deal would be made public. It is only then that we may actually comment of the substance of the deal. Till such time, we can only hope Indian negotiators have not tilted much from July 18 statement.
