After such a wonderful person as a President it is really unexceptable for me to except the new President. She being a lady , I should have felt proud about it but its pity that I can'r I still feel and will always feel proud to have person like Kalam SIr as our President
Madamme SONIA now has two servants to work for her. Manu (Manmohan) who also works part time at South Block as PM of India and Tai (Pratibha) who also does chores at Raisina Hills.
India is truly a country of good servants. The only qualification for occupying a high post in the country is LOYALTY TO THE GANDHI FAMILY.

Well written...I real feel pitty for our democratic system we have bulit in last 60 years....Pratibha Patil is not at all a voice of people, she is the outcome of dirty politics tragetted for selfish gains of parties.. Where we should be proud to have a women as a president as a reflection of socio-economical changes........but selection of president is not at all a reflection of that...
ITS GOOD THAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A WOMEN PM.BUT AT THE COST OF A VISIONARY LIKE APJ....WAS IT REALLY REQUIRED.ULTIMATELY AFTER GETTING INDEPENDENCE FROM BRITSH WE ARE AGAIN BACK TO THE HANDS OF FORIEGNERS!!!!!!
ITALIAN MADAM NOW HAVE FULL GRIP OVER THE NATION......
SHAME ON YOU CONGRESS FOR BETRAYING THE FATHER OF MODERN INDIA!!!!!!

Kis khushi mein? BTW, whts her contribution to women empowerment till now, tht she gonna change everything in near future. Rather, she will seek more scams...murders etc
Ultimately, Congress, Sonia & teh mad-mad oldies of Left weresuccessful in getting the First woman President elected. Contrats!!! Now it's turn of Vice President. NDA has fielded Ms. Najma Heptullah as a vice-presidential candidate. She has a long experience of Loksabha & Rajyasabha. She is talented & experienced. Why now Congress should not support her. She too is a woman, she is also Muslim, she is ex-congressian. But no, it was a farce!!! Sonia actually wanted Shivraj Patil as a President, but that left oldies forced for Pratibha..

Congress doesn't need intelligent and independent thinking people. They need just loyal pets.

To think like that a little bit of common sense is required, which such people do not have.
One can easily see that there are more negative messages in this thread than congratulatory ones. This should not go un-noticed. All said and done, fact remains that a decisive majority of Indians wanted Kalam as president a second time. Indians did not have enough of Kalam, his vision and energy. But the Congress brand politics as usual gave a damn to people' sentiments. And literally thrusted a tainted figure down their throat. Once again Madame and her cronies have won hands down.
A president who endeared himself to the people and had a big dream for India stepped out. Replacing him is someone who has spoken to spirits, who once managed Indira's Kitchen (during Sanjays demise) and against whose family members there are a line of charges and court orders. The feeling of enlightenment and intellectual freshness that Kalam brought over India's millions has turned into something of a numbness and disinterest. No one except for Congress supporters and a few Maharashtrians, nobody seems to celebrate India's first woman president.

I do agree. That is evident by the fact that even media kept her elevation to this position as low key affair and gave more importance to news like 'Killing Dadua', 'BlueLine Buses in Delhi' and murder of Sayra.
Anyway now Madam Italian got her puppet planted in 'Rashtrapati Bhawan', whom she can use at her will.

Mr.Menon: Can you tell me what Mr. Kalam did in his tenure as a President? He couldnot hang a murder for the killing of the Soldiers. Tell me one thing he did. Being educated and getting degrees doesnot make you brave, you need guts, killer instinct to make you viable in the society. Indian society is a rotten at the core, Pratibha Patil is not the cause of it. Look at yourself, being self righteous, make a fool out of yourself on site which promotes hatred. Are you proud of yourself now? I am watching this site closely, time and again this site promotes hatred against Marathis, whether it is Bal Thackery or somebody else. As if Marathis are there to be bashed. And then the likes of you and most of the "washed up southies" jump on to the bandwagon, join the chorus to promote hatred. I know you can't fix your state which is rotten at the core of human dignity, commies and muslims are the shining exmaples from your backyard. You leave this nation in hordes to serve and clean up Arab Asses, get some dignity. You know the histroy of your people? Britishers took your ancestors as slaves to far off lands with a noose around the neck. Dogs have better lives. So don't try to be hero here. Keep yourself within your limits.

I too agree!! A person should be elected President because he/ she is worthy of the postion and not for any other reason
I have been reading about the triumph of the woman. In India, at high places, relatively speaking, there is a much higher degree of acceptance of a woman. Whether it be Indira to Sarojini Naidu to Jhansi rani; perhaps its in our religion where we do pray to the goddesses such as Lakshmi, Saraswati, Durga, Kali. Hence it was just a matter of time before a woman president did come our way.
But it is so disappointing to see the first Woman President in the form of Pratibha Patil who has really no credentials. And that too she is supposed to occupy a chair which was erstwhile graced by greats such as Radhakrishnan, Kalam etc.
I wish we had a great lady who has the stature, the personality and the grace of such great people of the past.
That for me, would have been a great great day to celebrate this occasion.
Thanks to Sonia, the feeling of pride of such an occasion has been completely ruined and the nation would never get it back.

Congress party will never accept the person he or she who is of own mind, wisdom and they will see to it that happens.
It is happened by choosing Mr Prime minister and now MS President.
They want to run with their own coatery of people by fielding people in higher position who will work according to their line.
See what other party did when they were in power.
Mr Vajpayee selected person as their candidate who is self reliant and charismatic and selection was so correct that is proved by his stint as President and love from people of India he got which is appearant from media all over country. Because he is man of his own.
Mr Vajpayee did think only of nation and not of party when he selected as candidate of president. because he himself is man of his own and charismatic
This is never expected from Congress Party 'coz they can't think out of the box politics.
It is ironical to see the contradiction that congress party asked support for their candidate from Shiv Sena to whom they call as Communal.
As Shiv Sena has supported the MS President is MS President communal. It is all humbug which congress and communist do.
Its all pity of their politics.
Any body who supports congress and communist are secular and otherwise they are communal.
I think Congress and communists have midas touch to convert to secular who is always called communal. Our media is also not highlighting.
Congress people are beating their drums to garner support from Shiv Sen

Don't forget that it was occupied by puppet Presidents like Gyani Zail Singh, V.V. Giri, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, etc. Why blame Sonia alone. The NDA is equally to blame. Maybe they did not want Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam to continue because he is a Muslim. What stopped Advani and his cronies from supporting Kalam ? Why did they support Mr. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat from outside when this very Mr. Shekhawat was once a BJP Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Not only Sonia Gandhi every other party is to blame for this fiasco. No scandals came out before Pratibhatai was nominated for President. She gets nominated and the BJP machinery gets into top gear to taint her. What a shame? A Historic occassion for this country was marred by allegations and counter allegations due to people like Arun Jaitley.

You say NDA did not back Kalam because of he being a Muslim. I pity your GK. It was NDA who installed Kalam as President. Prior to that he was scientific advisor to NDA government.
Nobody knew Pratibha before she was nominated. Whatever was the reason, one must not forget that the allegations are very serious - ranging from murder to misappropriation of public money.
Actually nothing more can be expected of Congress and its allies - we have had such ideal personalities as Laloo, Shahabuddin, Shibu Soren etc wielding power in this alliance of convienience. So we just need to accept that Pratibha is another jewel in Sonia's crown.
As all are aware that India like to became most different thing, thay have done it again, as First Mafia President in world that even Italy will feel shy, that Italy is left behind, then Murderer woman even Mussolini will come out of graveyard to learn tactics from lady,Pratibh will be first RASTRA PATNI, so think about is minutly.
