A little introspection
by Pankaj Gadkari on Jul 23, 2007 02:33 PM  Permalink

I have read the 460 messages posted here.Forget Pratibha because common man has no role to play in Presidential election. We all know Pratibha's election is in fact a 'political appointment'.
Let's not forget these are the very leaders and parties we have voted to power. No Indian can deny the responsibility.
Do we ever verify the credentials of the candidate before casting our vote?Certainly not,for otherewise we would not have ended up electing more than 50% MP with serious criminal cases pending against them.
If this is the case with us literate, computer savy vocal brats then it defies logic to blame the supposedly backward, illeterate rural voters for electing non deserving MPs.

It just means that majority of us are corrupt / spineless
by Babu Rao C on Jul 23, 2007 01:40 PM  Permalink

WHENEVER AN EVIL TAKES OVER GOOD. The sky flashes aglow with thundering bolts with anger. The earth trembles with agony. Cyclonic storms lash across the terrains with anguish. Tears of nature bring spate of floods across the lands. All these things happen in well written literary works and to some extent in movies meant to mint our feelings. But this is REAL WORLD. In real world things are different. THAT TOO THIS IS INDIA

Government %uF0DF Politicians %uF0DF People

It just means that majority of us are corrupt / spineless. People are the ones who have put these politicians on the pedestal. Partly our election process also is to be blamed, where the politicians can happily snap their ties with the voter the moment they gets their share of votes.

If you are really perturbed do not stop with these mere messages. Each one of you participate in democracy. Each one of you try to convince ten others to vote for good governance. ELECT A GOOD GOVERNMENT. Atleast next time.

The new President
by HariOm Chawla on Jul 23, 2007 01:37 PM  Permalink

Pratibhaji thanked people for electing her as President. But she was not elected by people, but by politicians. If people had their wish, Kalam Sahib would have got second term as President.

MOCKERY OF POST OF PRESIDENT

Milestone for women? My foot!
by Suresh Menon on Jul 23, 2007 12:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How can a lady elevated to the post by dirty political manipulation, be thought of as a symbol of women's empowerment? She is not representative of Indian women who have achieved success out of merit; she is also not representative of the millions of Indian women suffering due to evils like dowry, sexual harrassment and the like. Her affiliation is with the dynasty and this will continue.

This is an indication that our system allows elected people to get away with what they want, and 'powers-that-be' that hold no office can decide how to scuttle popular sentiment and decide who should rule us. This is a shame on democracy. The ghost of Indira still haunts the corridors of power at the centre.

see the common man's disgust...
by g s on Jul 23, 2007 12:01 PM  Permalink

Just been following every other article on PP (pratibha patil) for short..
I am just amazed at the unanimity with which common person in India loathes this woman. The words used are typicaly reserved for municipality level leader (which she is anyway)This speaks volumes about PP and her credibility as the President. I wish she or atleast her family members read these forums and guage the public's wrath against them.
Its a truly shameful day for India. I pity our armed forces who have to salute this scum bag. I didnt even felt this bad when our forces had to salute to paki Mush.

Heartly welcome new 13th President of Free India. Actually it won`t matter much whethere President is man or women. Still then India being a Purushpradhan Desh, I feel it proud to get a female President. My best wishes to her for the full term.

Politicians
by RAKESH DOGRA on Jul 23, 2007 10:28 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Now all respect shuld be extended to Mrs. Pratibha Patil as she has become President defeating her rival by over 3lac votes.
But comments from polotician after this victory are rediculous. These were some of them.
Its victory of Principles
Its victory for women
Its victory of secularism etc.
These comments show that how shamless our politicians can be.Here good peple can not survive.Only shameless crooks survive.
Now see election of vice president.Every politician is after Muslim votes. All candidates selected are Muslims with an eye on Muslim votes by all parties including BJP.But a sahme.
