Impossible
by on Jul 25, 2007 09:40 PM  Permalink

Its impossible to argue on a rational, logical basis with religious fanatics. Coz the foundation of their mindset is belief which is not logical or rational. These lines in the article above relfect it so well.

"Sanctity? What was Ghazi and his Taliban with automatic weapons doing inside a mosque? Improving the levels of an Islamic centre of faith and learning?

No answer, but only one line gets repeated: 'Whatever be the activities inside, the army's actions were unwarranted.'"

So since you cannot change the person's mindset one should try to change the situation. And that is do what is necessary to defend against religious zealots.

Calling a spade a spade
by Aniruddh Gore on Jul 24, 2007 12:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A nice article. Islam is the evil religion and has created trouble and troube only and nothing other than trouble for non-muslims. It appears to me that the religion preaches hatred towards non-muslims with christians, jews and hindus being the key targets. Some observations about islam in india, worth pondering:
1. Muslims invaded india and spread islam by all possible heinous means as that is what their religions only moto is.
2. For centuries they destroyed our temples, looted wealth, killed people, raped women in the name of their religion.
3. They terrorized people and forcefully converted them o islam.
4. In recent past, they created seperate islamic countries i.e. afgahnistan, pakistan and bangladesh from indian lands and India did nothing.
5. They killed millions of hindus during partition and held several hindu women, india gave them financial aide. When hindus retaliated in india our govt condemned them and brought peace to indian muslims.
6. They killed millions of hindus in bangladesh but we never revealed the facts in our text books.
7. They killed millions in kashmir and india did absolutely nothing...whatever little we did was to comfort muslims by repealing pota, tada etc.
8. They are now in majority in north eastern parts of india and have already started creating problems and our govt doing nothing again.

Mr. Anirudh though i do agree that the muslim community has to do some introspection I would like to statistically disagree with u .with solid facts which all of us know. that itself will prove that u are a brainwashed righwinger who has no space left for right thinking

India now has a population of 1.1 Billion out of which only 15 % are muslims. and india has the second largest number of muslim population.so that means even afghanistan pakistan indian muslim will not constitute to 30 % of total Hindus in the subcontinent. If muslims had committed so many atrocities how do u think that after more than 1000 years of mughal rule india still has more than 80 % majority of Hindus .

well i dont need to say the rest. this itelf proves how ignorant people are and how easily such people can be brainwashed without the slightest space for free thinking

who ever u are ..gain proper knowledge be proponents of free thoughts ....which the terrorists and right wing fundementalists are all against

Moderation is the need of the hour....
by Rangasamy Vijay on Jul 21, 2007 12:21 PM  Permalink

It is oft repeated in these columns that "All muslims are not terrorists but all terrorists are muslims"- this is a thought provoking statement and does hold some element of truth looking at the current world events. Why well meaning muslims all over the world put their knowledge and influence in educating millions of other muslims instead of leaving the matters all these violent, illiterate preachers who do nothing but preach hatred and revenege day in day out. This is the time to awake if you profess this is the religion of peace...You live only once in this world and let us live peacefully and let others also live. Who knows what happens after we leave our physical bodies here and why fight for the unknown??

Musharraf's moment of truth
by krishna paknikar on Jul 21, 2007 11:15 AM  Permalink

While some of acts of Musharraf are different and laudable but appear more to be under duress.Pakistan is paying for what all they sowed in the past 60 years. They are and will pay a price for all that fomenting of Talbanisation, wahabism and fanatic Islamisation. They in the name of glorification of Islamic past will not allow co-existance of others and peace the world. Hope radical islamic thinking and nuclear weapons doesnot bring the world to the brink of annihilation.

Why not use the original word?
by SHIRISH MEHTA on Jul 21, 2007 11:13 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Congratulations to my friend Tarun Vijay for the clarity of speech, and even more important clarity and integrity of thought. Few Indian columinists have been as unambiguous and bold as Mr. Vijay has been here. So long as even a few Hindus can think so clearly, there is hope for Hindu society.

But, having come so far, why beat about the bush by using words like Islamism, Islamic fundamentalism, radical Islam, Militant Islam et al?

Make no mistake. Pakistanis are our blood brothers alienated by a foreign ideology masquerading as a religion. The peculilar, arrogant, one-sided attitude of Muslims to non-Muslims is rooted in the teachings and actions of the Prohphet himslef, as enshrined in Quran and Hadis. It is strange but true that there have never been any protests from within Muslim society against the treatment meted out to non-Muslims. The only honorable exception was Bangladeshi authroess Taslim Nasreen, who quickly attracted a fatwa of death from the Mullahs.

Hence my plea. Why not use the simple and familiar word:Islam? It is pure, simple and most authentic, coined as it is by the prophet himself.

Many people delude themselves by believing that Islam is a noble religion, only some Muslims are wicked. The truth is the opposite. Mulsims are as normal human beings as any other group. That is why we go along with millions of them in our daily lives. It is the mindset created by Islam which makes them behave funnily towards others.

The ultimate truth
by Lama Eejrenab on Jul 21, 2007 04:14 AM  Permalink

Pure unadulterated truth. The biggest problem with India is that after being in slavery for centuries, we have developed a slave mentality and will accept anything and everything our Italian master says.
