so all i understand from this grand essay, is that MUSHARAFF WANTS TO RUN WITH THE HARE, AND HUNT WITH THE HOUNDS!!! SO FAR SO GOOD! AS LONG AS WE HAVE SECULARISTS HERE HE CAN DO WORSE THINGS.
This is a very good article by TarunVijay portraying the harsh realities of today's affairs, but unfortunately, not many in India are taking the threat seriously.
Well I agree with the author partially. I think at the same time he forgot that before Musharaff even Bhutto and Nawaz also funded Isamlic Terrorism. Bringing democracy to Pakistan does not help us in anyway. We should look at our own needs and concerns. We cannot just show Musharaff is the only culprit but rather entire leadership (from Qaida Azam - to Mush) are faulty.
We have to accept the fact that at least Musharraf is different than a bigot like Nawaz Sharif and a corrupt politician like Benazir. He is also different then General Zia, who crushed his opponents mercilessly and got Bhutto hanged. India%u2019s experiences with both Sharif and Benazir have been bitter. Miltancy in J&K started in Benazir%u2019s reign and Nawaz was a pro-fundamentalists. So, why do Indian leaders harp upon a democratic rule in Pakistan, when we know that would worsen the situation there and would have a direct impact on militant activities in India? Musharraf appointed an Economist as a PM, has given a lot of freedom to the Press (see what Ayaz Amir is writing in %u201CThe Dawn%u201D). Except for few isolated incidents like attack on Geo TV, there were not much of press curbs. He is not a fundamentalist either. Although, we, as Indians are always sceptical of Pakistan%u2019s leaderships and can%u2019t fully trust them, for our own interests, Musharraf is better than any so-called democrats. Because of increased militancy in Pakistan and American%u2019s interest in this region, things are becoming bad to worse. Lets wait and watch.

Guys!!! Allow me to express my views without offending anybody. We have to also understand that a silent majority of Pakistan doesn't support terrorism, and support Musharraf's action on the Red Mosque, its only that they(silent majority) are under pressure from the extreme fundamentalists who are armed and in control of a lot of parts of Pakistan. This silent majority are scared to express their views openly and we cannot ignore these hidden truths. So let us hope that things change in pakistan and the silent majority speak up against the fundamentalists and the extremism gets back into the shell and Pakistan takes into a good path. Its not an overnight thing that can change pakistan. Once democracy prevails and wisemen come to power we cannot rule out the possibility that they will oppose the terror activities happening on their land. Lets give them a little time but lets remain alert at all times coz we cannot tolerate terrorism sponsored by them.... at the same time let us convey to the Muslims of India that we Hindus are not against any SINGLE Muslim who feels he is a true Indian. These True Muslims need encouragement and that is the only way you get all the Muslims of India to take the true path. I donno how far I am right but this is the only way I feel is a path to a successful Nation and a secular India.
Pakistan is a unique country in the fact that it has a monopoly in the commodity that it exports round the world, i.e terrorism. Anywhere in the world wherever there is a terrorist strike, you can be assured that there will be a Pakistan connection. This nation is now like a cancerous tumour which threatens the peace & stability of the entire world. If the US govt. under President Bush is serious about winning the war on terror, then they need to consider doing what Richard Armitage had threatened Musharraf with on the evening of 9/11/2001, i.e bomb Pakistan back to the Stone Age. Only when this is done will terrorist strikes across the world cease. Else many more Westerners & Western cities are destined to be hit in terrorist attacks inspired, instigated & financed by Pakistan. The Pakistan govt., Army & ISI are in league with the terrorist holding company Al Qaida, which is actually a fully owned & operated subsidiary of the ISI. The Indian govt. needs to adopt Chanakya neeti and seize the golden opportunity & initiate active steps for the breakup of Pakistan. The govt. keeps saying a strong & stable Pakistan is in India's interest. Thats crap. Our interests will only be served once we breakup Pakistan. This will also remove a major Chinese proxy from South Asia. The true axis of evil is China, Saudi Arabia & Pakistan. They need to be eradicated & annhilated like Nazism & Fascism were in WW II.
Great work!! Tarun, I have not seen any ,uslim comments trashing u as RSS/VHP, u know it has become a fashion to side track the real issue of islam and their effects. It is easy to blame Hindu Fundamentalism than to look into their conscience if islam is really a religion of peace
good article. shows why the net is superior to tv and newspapers. tv and newspapers have a hidden agenda; some sort of control from somewhere(haneef's case). the net is still honest.
