its a HOPELESS case
by inkypinky on Jul 18, 2007 12:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

either sign the deal with america OR the NPT which has been signed by 196 countries, else the nuclear reactor fuel runs out soon.

a few scientists like dr.kakodar (whose visa had been rejected by USA) claims to be able to create thorium reactors, but all this is just big talk as all nuclear reactors in india are either of russian or american built with hardly any indegeneous technology. most defence projects have failed eg. arjun tank, tejas fighter

TWO SCIENTISTS FROM INDIA HAVE WON NOBEL PRIZE FOR USA (KHORANA, CHANDRASEKHAR) WHILE ONLY ONE HAS WON NOBEL PRIZE FOR INDIA (C.V.RAMAN) AND THAT TOO IN 1930 BEFORE INDEPENDENCE.

Hurrying the Deal for whose sake, please?
by Chakravarthy Muralidhar on Jul 18, 2007 12:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Every busy body in the Indian bureaucracy is scurrying and flitting from Washingston to Delhi to 'see the deal through' as per the wishes of the American orchestrators! Can their be anything more tragic for a democratic nation such as India and more demeaning for the so-called ruler (politicians) and the administrators (bureaucrats)? Has anyone taken a breather for a short while to review and address the question "For whose sake should we hurry to sign this deal when some of the most basic issues of mutual trust, respect and will to cooperate has not been addressed and convincingly answered by the Americans. All that the deal seems to highlight is the need for India's nuke research to be thrown open for easy espionage and then be capped from further progress.
Not a single nuke scientist or technologist is interested in any deal with America. Ultimately, who are going to operationalize the Agreement? Is it the PM, his cabinet colleagues and the bureaucrats or the scientists and engineers in the various research labs, development and production units? If it is the latter, then better ask them first. And when they have already said "NO" in one single resolute voice, then better rescind and hold back. Don't rush falsely imagining that you are creating some great history.
It is time for us to stop our aging, unthinking politicians and the shallow greedy bureaucrats from tying down the future of the country for their personal glorification and wealth.

Indo-US Nuclear Deal
by Rajesh Bhatnagar on Jul 18, 2007 12:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I don't think that the deal is going to happen.
As it is clear that US is in no mood to show any room for adjustment viz-a-viz related to rights to reprocess the spent fuel etc.
Since they are in no mood to change Hyde act which is a law in US.So i am really surprise that why Indian team is wasting their all important time in US.Pls come back at the earliest and tell US that first they do their act & then call India for meeting.

If the indian team is aware of the fact about Hyde act then tell US to do something about that.
If India has to engage in business with US seriously, then New Delhi has to tell the US to revise or modify the Hyde Act.

Success has many Fathers ..
by Deepak Chivate on Jul 18, 2007 11:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Indo American Nuclear deal is like an illegitimate child who is about to be born
but the society in general (Indian people)is reluctant to accept it but its Mother
(Indian Govt.)is eager to give birth to the baby and its Father(USA)is indecisive till
the last moment but at the same time he
doesnot want the Mother to leave him and go
to the other man(Iran pipe line project)nor
the baby die in earlier stages,at least.
Relatives of Mother(Left parties) do not approve the relationship so also those
of Father(US congress).
In such conditions,if the baby
is born anyway,it will be unhealthy and
short lived as it will lack love, affection
from its Father, support from the society
in general as Mother is not self sufficient
and who is again dependant for vital
decisions of her own on her parents (Sonia Gandhi)who have adopted her,Mother not
being biological child of her official
parents.
And as the proverb says,a
failure is orphan. At the end Mother will
loose all,Father,the other man,new born baby,parents,her relatives,society and her
credibility,importantly,I am afraid.

Indo-US N-deal
by sanjay on Jul 18, 2007 11:22 AM  Permalink

The much fancied and much awaited Indo-US Nuclear Deal has been mired with confusion and distrust. There is no point in having such a deal. It better that the whole issue is looked into again by the two countries without botehring whether Prez.Bush remains in the office or not till then.

If the name of Prez.Bush is still required, then both sides must come to terms and reach an amicable agreement.
