Nigerian Scams
by Kumar M on Jul 17, 2007 08:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This article is useful to many persons who may be receiving various messages and even phone calls purportedly from Nigeria. It is good if this is made known to all in order to be aware of the frauds in Nigeria, popularly known as 419. I stayed in Nigeria for a long period and so I am aware of these methods.
Generally these messages are fake to entice ignorant people. They contain for example a legacy of bank account running in millions of dollars, employment letters with high salary, immigration charges, emergency etc.
Unless one is careful, these people can be very clever when it comes to money frauds.

Nigerian Scams
by Mehul Kamdar on Jul 17, 2007 07:56 PM  Permalink

There are some websites that have taken the fight to these mugu scamsters www.419eater.com and www.419fun.com for example. These people have their own books and they also help unmask and post pictures of scamsters and their assciates on the net.

On the other hand, it is sad that the Government of India does little to alert Indians of these frauds unlike the Brotosh Government and the FBI in the US who have an elaborate procedure for dealing with these criminals. Nigeria is a den of thieves and the world needs to wake up to these criminals and their scamming ways.

This is very true, I live in London and Nigerians have earned very bad name here too but this is not only confined to Nigerians, it can be done by anyone and everyone. So we all should remain vigilant for such things at all times.

Very good article.

it reminds me my schooldays when touts used to cheat you by offerring quick deliveries in ration shops and vanish with our ration card and money. we dont need to go to nigeria to get cheated as we have enough of such elements in our country itself. lets be careful in life.
