Cunning politicians should stop vote bank politics
by Pankaj Choudhury on Jul 16, 2007 01:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why central govt is so much hell bent to increase the caste based quota. There are more burning issues like poverty, unemployment..... and above all population. Population explosion is the root cause of all evils- be it unemployment, traffic jam, dacoity, child labour or terrorism- you name it and there is a relationship with over population. If population was limited, everyone would be employed and no one would think of going in the negative ways of life. Our earth is becoming imbalanced by the weight of population- politicians should be given a daily dose of local trai / city bus ride to know it- and our govt is playing with vote bank politics. Damn with this govt. our govt talks about 27% quota for OBCs, but do not mention that OBCs can capture general seats also by merit but the reverse is not true. Suppose there are 100 applicants, 20 from reserved catagory and 80 from general, against 20 seats of which 10 are reserved. Suppose 10 reserved candidates occupied first 10 positions by merit. In this case, 10 general seats will be occupied by the reserved catagory by merit and the remaining 10 seats will be occupied by reserved catagory by reservation and the result is that all 20 reserved catagory applicants will get admission while all the 80 generals will remain deprived. Is this justice in India? Is this secularism? Who will give answer???

the money wasted on preparing & going to the courts and wasting courts time could have been utlized in opening a new school somewhere in the rural india, where poverty and ignorance is the main issue.

The good the bad and the ugly......................
by Abhinav on Jul 16, 2007 01:43 PM  Permalink

The times we r seeing is that there is a clear cut fight between the good (BJP).......the bad (commies)......and the ugly (Congress / islamists).........

Commies r bad because of what poverty they have been able to steep WB into etc..........but Congress is just ugly and anti-national........the way Sonia Manio Gandhi is hell bent upon splitting India along caste and religious lines.........

But Sonia & Congress beware........truth ultimately wins.......even with all u r reservation policies.......u will fall flat on u r face in the next general elections..........

Satvamey Jayate.........

What a shame.
by Amrit Singh on Jul 16, 2007 01:40 PM  Permalink

The reservations were helpful in the past. But dihonesty with them had taken off the benefits off it. Reservations should be temporary and the criteria should be constantly changed. But in India once given a reservation you cant take back from that caste or community that right. So other ways should be found out instead of quats. India is going to be a great power in the future. These things will only reverse or slow that process. There is a competion in the country for being backward. WHAT A SHAME

New policy on reservation.
by Prem Prakash on Jul 16, 2007 01:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Following steps must do by politician immediately for justification of Reservation in India.

1 whatever reservation percentage of sc/st/obc etc is currently applicable in government job, immediately start in ministerial work.
2. All important ministerial post should be from reserve category like President, PM, HM, DM, FM etc.
3. There personal staff should be 100% from reserve category, like his secretarial
staff, security guard, driver, peon, house mates etc.
4. In there personal life they must use only reserve category people to perform the puja on any auspicious occasion like marriage, birth, religious function etc. even in any death no general category people allow to perform the religious thinks.
What I mean to say that all politician should start in their life to make untouchable to general category people and concentrate on reserve category for all their needs.

Doobe India to doobe hame kya.

No, India not Doobe now. India has started truly developing only after implementation of Mandal report post 1991. The GDP and other growth index will continue to grow now because India has now adopted the reservation policy of inclusion.

Mr Prakash, I would like to add some

1) They should go to Reserved Category doctor only for their treatment. Especially, terminally ill Politicians should go to Reserved Category Doctors only.

2) Only Reserved Category lawyers should handle their personal cases before the court of law.

3) Only Reserved Category Engineers should construct their houses.

Dekho, abhi Reservation Policy ko kya hoga.

Quotas don't make any difference in a capitalist economy; those who don't get it benefit more
by Anurag Shrivastava on Jul 16, 2007 01:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The talented will always have opportunity because people are paid for the services they provide. If an IIT or IIM grad is getting through quota and is also not good , then he/she will not get a good job.

Quotas will not hurt even if there is a reservations in private sector because private sector will always find ways to filter out bad guys.

In fact quotas will make its recipients lazy and people who do not have quota will work extra hard. And working hard only makes you smarter and provides you with additional edge to succeed. Upper castes will drill into their kids heads that unless they study hard - they have no hope. The jews are the most successful people in the world only because they were discriminated against and took to education with vengeance.

So guys - just chill - quotas will not make any difference to the intelligent and the hard working. It surely will hurt OBCs though because each one will now have a suspect qualification

Open your mind and look objectively. Are professionals from Tamilnadu inferior to those from UP and Bihar? No Sir, they are professionally superior because they are better educated and better trained. And let me remind you that Tamilnadu has a history of reservation and that too a very hight percentage (more than 69 percent).

YOu may be right in saying that TN has highest percentage of reservations and also more bright professionals are coming from that state. But I don't see any reason how the two are related. Most of the professional are either from General Quota or mostly from BCs which is a normal reservation quota. I wonder how Dalits benefited from this quota.
And In the General, most of them are FCs. They have not come up by any quota. BTW, most of the FCs in TN have their roots, houses in TN but go abroad or to other states and come out good without any quota. Still they may carry the TN tag with them by virtue of their names.

Arun Singh - That exactly is a case in point. The Iyers and the Iyengars are doing superbly only because of the quota system while the brahmins , kayasthas and thakurs of UP have been deprived of the 69% quota system and not doing as well as the Iyers and Iyengars. We must immediately demand a 70% quota for OBCs/Muslims/SC/ST in the rest of the country as well.

Most of the Tamil Brahmins are very lucky that they are rejected in Govt Engineering college, Govt jobs etc. So, majority of them are well settled in US, UK, Middle East etc.

As a TN Brahmin, I thank our great CM Mr Karunanidhi and other pro-Quotas. Only because of you people, we are able to prosper in our life and earn good money abroad.

Thanks...Thanks...

Whither Resrvations?
by ashok tiwari on Jul 16, 2007 01:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

These jokers are running against time to do some thing before next parliamentary elections to garner the votes of SC ST and OBC.
Their tricks in UP has come to naught where Mayawati is the queen of occasion and Sonia the a side kick.
When will these congressman understand the national interest?
I have come across any no of bright SC and OBC youngsters who resent reservations and find it insulting.
But congress and communists are hellbent for affirmative action by Private industry and QUOTA fo admission in premier institutions.

i am agree with you, mayawati has shown that if u want complete growth then u have to think about all communities, like if you want to make all rich then u can not do it by making rich to poor. similalry if u want to balance social status same. then u cant do it by making other communities backward.and this is what govt. of india and all other political parties are doing, just for vote bank.

Why reservation, let's have some out of box thinking
by Gentle Man on Jul 16, 2007 01:26 PM  Permalink

Its very clear that reservation is not a solution to erradicate poverty. Because
1. Not all reserverd category people are poor
2. Not all so called upper caste are rich

The problem on ground is we don't have enough opportunities. To create opportunities we need vision, money & above all true patriotism to implement. Not even a idiot would think the cronies like Arjun or Dr Sing are capable of doing this. Even if they want to we all know our great Super PM, Sonia will not allow this to happen.

So for all the political class i have an idea - a face saving formula, to keep you votes intact as well as do something good for the country-
1. Like minority run institutions we should allow caste run institutions. Their prime purpose is to uplift their caste people. They can recruit their caste people in those institutions. It should be 100% only for those caste & no caste should be left out.
2. We should keep elite institutions like IIT, IIM's & REC's outside the purview of this setup. Create more IIT, IIMs. May be atleast one per every state. But no reservation.

I think with these we can cater to everyones need and can achieve a sembalance of equality in future ...

reservation for the nation
by sunder rajan on Jul 16, 2007 01:26 PM  Permalink

the reservation of studies or jobs should be purely on economic basis all the upward class people are not rich. the PM / sonia doesnot know anything because they never come across commom man in the street the italian never know the religion of india and this SMS always occupied highest office and the people surrounding them are all illiterate people let some good gentleman from the supreme court understand the problem of the country and make all people safe in the country the PM should explain what he did with such a large education cess collected in the last 2 years
