ONGC ....
by GURU on Jul 10, 2007 01:30 PM  Permalink

ongc has no major discoveries since last 3 decades. All potential oil wells identified are unfortunately being sold out for personal consideration to majors like RIL and other foreign firms. It is huge and a badly managed firm and the last but not the least they have no concern for lives for people working for them.

How did it sink?
by subin mohan on Jul 09, 2007 04:06 PM  Permalink

Did it sink by an accident or was made to sink? Previously it was heard that ONGC was paid by foreign companies and governments, millions of dollars just for not exploring. Our mother Indian have huge deposits of oil and gas reserves yet to be explored and one reason why is because of foreign involvment. What India desperately need is energy and we pay huge sums to aquire it crippling our economy. Once we get hold of the source of those energy deposits, India will become unstoppable and a global power overcoming the United states.

Unfortunate
by v hari on Jul 09, 2007 03:55 PM  Permalink

The incident emphsises the need for an overview of the management and operations of Government run companies. While privatisation may certainly not be the ideal solution for crucial industries as these, a revamp to incorporate better management and working procedures is definitely called for. India is at a critical stage of development and it is a must to avoid such unfortunate episodes that may affect in turn numerous other economic and social parameters. We have to make excellence a habit not in just the board rooms but on the floors as well.

ONGC VESSEL - SINKING
by nabiullah habibullah on Jul 09, 2007 03:46 PM  Permalink

THE MAKOR PROBLEM OCCURING ARE MAINLY DUE TO COST CUTTING AND SOMETIMES DUE TO, NO SENSE OF
BELONGING BY THE CREWMEMBERS ONBOARD, AS MOST OF
THE TIME IN SEARCH OF CHEAP LABOUR, COMPROMISE IS MADE ON SAFETY ASPECTS, MOSTLY THE PRIVATE OPERATORS OF THE VESSEL BEING GIVEN THE TASK OF RUNNING THE SHIPS AT VERY LOW BUDGETS BY ONGE.

Sinking of ONGC Vessel
by White Feather on Jul 09, 2007 03:31 PM  Permalink

Indians compromise on safety in all walks of life. We have absoloutely No idea of Safety.
This is not surprising when the company responsible cuts corners.
