Can someone help?
by Vish on Jul 07, 2007 08:31 PM  Permalink

I consider myself fairly informed. When it comes to India-US civil nuclear energy deal issues, I feel I know nothing. It's fair guess lot of people are in same boat.

Can someone in the media put together what're the open issues and stakes in Indo-US civilian nuclear energy discussions?

BTW, we learn again reading this informative article that no one is permanent foe or friend in international politics. These're the rules set by western powers who have looted the world resources at the cost of rest of ignorant and weak societies of the world since the beginning of times.

Goal post shifts for Indo-US nuclear deal

Our PM ever since he became FM has been messing up Indian defence apparatus.Just look at his luck, inspite of all the mischief making he has done which has done great harm to our defence machine,he is still the PM.

When all those who very well understand that our PM is the most incompetent person in matters of our security but just look at the foolhardiness of this PM that he is still going ahead to compromise the security of the nation.

This deal is a deadly trap for India and we should do every thing possible to stop this mad move of the most unwise PM who has become our greatest misfortune of the day.

When he was PM he cut off funds for development of the uranium mines and further exploation in the field and now he shamelessly turns around and says that we are short of uranium.

He is an unrelable person who is a menace to our countries future security and the well being of our posterity.

The deal needs to be allowed a quiet burial. Our Govt. needs to invest more into R&D to develop our own capability.

We need this for because of assured supply for our present and future nuxlear plants.
More than defence, we need to go nuclear huge way for the civilian need.
We have credible deterance in military and we would keep developing further.
But for civil need, we need international cooperation.

Dear prabhat,
Have u read any where about which price they will give us the uranium ?
It will be decided only after the pact & what quintity america will allow the other countries to sell to India ?
No dought both the questions will go very hard for India even if the deal stricks.
Then why the Hell the Indian Gove. is giving this so much Hype ? & not concentrating on exploration on Power Trans. losses,Hydro power,Solor Systems, wind mills & Indigenous Thoriam Reactor.

We do not have credible deterrence and nor the adequate means of delivery.China is already showing sharp teeth and asserting claims on India.Tibetian culture is being destroyed. Both mount Kailash and Mansarovar along with sources of rivers like Sind, Sutlej,Brahamputra etc are in Tibet.
Pakistan once free from military needs on western front will restart military action against us.In the mean time it is building up its strength.

Would you like to live next door to an atomic power station.Hence atomic power is not the answer to our electric power needs. In any case, it is not going to be affordable unless we use our own thorium base.
US ,by this agreement will neutralise our N-defence capablity in the manner it was done to EKLAVYYA in Mahabharat.

The whole world till late 17th century was India centric. We have been super power in the past and hence we have a proud history. Our contributions in advanced humanity have not yet been matched by any other civilisation.Hence, we one-sixth of humanity, are destined to recoup and rise once again which we cannot do if we let some one tie us down hand and feet.

We should not fall into traps aimed to containing us. Our man-power is a great source of enrgy, growth and commerce once we harness it by providing quality education as there is no shortage of intelligent minds except for lack of quality education.

Since we are not an aggressive people we need strong defence to safeguard our freedom.

The Nuke deal foolishly signed

Why bother?
by Pradeep Mocherla on Jul 07, 2007 07:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is a time to take a step back and reflect. Why compromise our rights in haste? Haste makes waste and nothing worthwhile comes without patient hardwork. I think India should just look inwards. Yes,we'll be slow. Our scientists will need time (which we FEEL we don't have). But in the long run. It's better we try to develop the whole cycle indigeniously rather than be held at gun barrel by the US & Russians or any other cartel members. This does two things. A) It takes us back to our status of Non-Aligned Nation (atleast in terms of Nuclear Group) and B) ensures that the world doesn't get sucked into another round of mass discrimination by the western powers who have so far held the rest of the world to ransom over the last 1000 years by exploiting the knowledge and resources of the continents of Asia and Africa and leaving their people to die in misery. WE HAVE TO REMEMBER. WE ARE WHERE WE ARE TODAY DUE TO WHAT INDIRA GANDHI DID. DO IT OURSELVES. SELF SUFFICIENCY IS ALWAYS A GOOD THING. Even though Nationalisation might be a bit extreme, but keeping things Indian and doing it ourselves is much better than trying to BEG on other person's doorstep to "alleviate" our existing economy situation.

It's worse to beg than to live with honour with minimum resources.

Irrespective of which government it is we should always do what we need ourselves. If we didn't blast the nuke we'd not even get the right to stand and talk today. So just keep that programme going in full strength :-
