Those who are against hindus should leave the country
by Carti Guessane Rengasamy on Jul 04, 2007 05:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Ramar Sethu is the symbolic of Hindu heritage and no one can question. Sethu canal is very much importance to our country but you should not touch the Ramar Sethu.

Mr. Swamy, what heritage are you talking about? What is Hinduism? A symbolic releigion can never be a strong one.

The RSS, which has been opposing Sethusamudram project citing religious and other implications, has admitted that it was embarrassed when someone claiming to be a %u201Cspace scientist%u201D, helping it with its arguments, emerged as a person with questionable credentials.

%u201CYes, that was (an embarrassment),%u201D RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said, when he was asked whether the RSS was embarrassed by the episode.

%u201CThat was certainly an unfortunate happening in our organisation. We are a simple, open organisation which trusts all our people. Sometimes, once in a million cases, we may be misled,%u201D he said.

Puneesh Taneja, who had helped in the RSS campaign against the project, used %u201CDr%u201D before his name and flaunted visiting cards and stationery identifying himself as a %u201Csenior research scientist, additional secretary, department of space, Prime Ministers Office, South Block, New Delhi.%u201D He allegedly forged his credentials, according to a newspaper report.

However, contrary to how it was projected by the media, Taneja had practically no contribution to the Ram Setu movement, Madhav said. %u201CAs soon as this came to our knowledge that this individual was not a scientist or an ex-PMO official, we took necessary action. That chapter is now over.%u201D

Describing the benefits cited for the Sethusamudram project as %u201Cexaggerated%u201D, Madhav said there was no change

SETHU
by DEEPAK NAIR on Jul 04, 2007 05:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

History is something that we should learn from. It may not be possible to preserve all historical sites. However religion should not be used as a tool to put an impediment too any progressive project which can help the masses. If there is an alternative way of going about the project witout destroying the so called sethu then it should be explored. However if not possible then past should make way for the present. All the problems of mankind are because we try to live our lives as per the past. But only the present is relevant.

Our grand parents are also our past. They seldom approve the freedom that we want. What to do with them ?

Dont tell me that you do everything that ur grand parents tell you. And if your grand parents are alive then, they are in the present and not in the PAST. We need to be in the present, here and now. Just try and see if you can try to live in the present. It is very difficult but if you can do it, then all your problems will vanish.

Just read what Mahendra wrote: I think it is ur reply.

Why was the route of Metro passing 'close' Qutub Minar in New Delhi was abandoned and later reworked fearing prospective damages to this 815 years man made monument?

Why the project of Taj corridor (which would have made lot of dollars to our money minded govt) was put off after the hue and cry of environmentalists as the construction near Taj 'may' cause bad effect on this 359 years old man made monument. Please give attention here that these monuments were not going to be destroyed but were 'feared' to get damaged.

Will any government in China would destroy or even alter The great wall of China(2695 years old) for the sake of any amount of money?

Will any one allow pulling down 4507 years old Pyramids of Egypt in lieu of any uncountable amount of money?

If the answer is NO, then why this 17,25,000 years old man made monument is being destroyed for the sake of some coins?

The PYRAMIDA of Egypt, Great Wall of China and Qutub Minar are great sources of tourism. Many people are dependent on it for their livelihood. It boosts tourism which in turn generates various earning opportunities. The questions to be asked is, Would the Sethu project benefit the masses? Are there people who are dependent on the Sethu for their liveleihood?

The Government could leave the disputed area untouched and make it as a tourist attraction by sending tourists in glass bottom boats to see what is inside the sea. That could compensate for whatever is the revenue loss of diversion.

Above was the view of US Heritage Center.

Sethu samudram or vizhinjam
by puravoor krishnakumar on Jul 04, 2007 05:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This project is simply the brainchild of Mr. Balu and DMK to exploit the regional sentiments...
While there is a more viable port facility available at Vizhinjam that has got natural depth and doesn't need any dredging... By spending a fraction of money that being wasted on the so called Sethu samudram project, Vizhinajam can be made a world class port... But unfortunately DMK cant encash the same as votes... He is resorting to this Thuglak plan to just to get political brownie points... Central government needs ministers, who think beyond regional considerations and think about the collective welfare of nation...

What a Same
by S S on Jul 04, 2007 05:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Our politicians wont recognize our old heritage if it has backing of hindu sentiments . If Some people come forward to protect this they will be marked as communal people. But if the same thing happens to other community this same politicians will be first to protect them. What a shame. When countries like USA are giving the proof for existence of Bridge in various ways, politicians of this country and in same state are not recognizing this and playing dirty politics over this issue. God only can save this country from this type of politicians.
