by Raman Namboothiri on Jul 03, 2007 01:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We say we care for others we have gr8 harmony blah! blah! blah!. But do we. I dont think so.

But WE DONT HAVE ONE THING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.
So is education. Not the one that makes people pass exams but ones that makes people think.

Our education system still churns out clerks for the west.

Which are some of the things that's needed to end corruption.

Lets Hope that Mumbai will Cope
by Bhola on Jul 03, 2007 01:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mumbai is a fighter City. Whenever anybody has written off Mumbai, it has come back and proved everybody wrong.Unfortunately, Mumbai has been in WATER in last 3-4 years rains. This is because Mumbai is situated near the Arabian Sea and Global warming has taken place all over the world. Hence, Mumbai has to pay the price by way of 26 July calamities. But, i hope Mumbai will Comeback again kyonki " FIGHTER HAMESHAA JEETATA HAIN ".

I agree that Mumbai carries spirit on sleeves but then why is it that the city is always in a catch up mode.
Its time for the city and administration to rise, shine with some meticulous planning and determination (they they have 100%) and lead the show instead of follwoing up.
By current scenario I don't think Mumbai can cope-up with anything and will always be involoved in catch game.

if there is a will there is a way
by Ashok Gupta on Jul 03, 2007 01:30 PM  Permalink

The water logging in cities particularly Mumbai is an annual feature and expected. The problem can be solved provided there is a will by the Govt. which is lacking. The Govt.prefers that the city comes to a standstill with people losing their lives and spread of epidemic and crores of business loss rather than find a solution to this recurring problem.
We read that huge amounts of money has been spent on clearing and revamping the drainage system but its the same story year in and year out with the govt.blaming everybody except themeselves. Un-precended construction has also further addeded to this problem - but then the govt.gives sanction to the plans, they are responsible for the drainange and sanitation and this is their pathetioc showing. Where has all that money gone ????? High time Mumbai people too accountability from the govt.and municipality who go underground. Shameful.

government to be blamed not BMC
by brahman on Jul 03, 2007 01:28 PM  Permalink

BMC is the service department and the government is the regulatory body... Mumbai's condition for whatever it is today, is mainly due to lack of good administration and loyal/sincere government... we have been witnessing for the last couple of decades, unscrupulous and corrupt government in Maharashtra whose aim is only mint money out of Mumbay and invest it elsewhere...
Mumbai's chances of retaining its glory is diminishing year after year (day by day)....
