Rediff authors make all sorts of mistakes. In a earlier article they said it will anchor 470 miles outside Chennai. That sounded like it is anchoring in Andaman Nicobar. The truth is profusion of Journalist with little knowledge has resulted in third grade articles and stories. Be it in News channels or newspapers or REDIFF ??? Wake up pull up your socks and report accurately.

Welcome nimitz!
by Kumar Govindan on Jul 02, 2007 10:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think that we should all be welcoming the USS Nimitz instead of staging a protest to stop it from docking in chennai. It(Nimitz) is the largest nuclear ship in the world with 1000's of people aboard. It has also got a good safety record. If the nuclear radiations would affect chennai then it would also affect the sailors abord the ship. How come the people aboard the ship are not affected by it.

These politicians just want to make it to the newspapers!

I think we should be happy that such a great ship is visiting our country.

Welcome Nimitz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so what? It was a past.......

Now, we r having new good relationship with US...

Remember, when indian airoplane was hijacked to kandahar, what indian government had done at that time? instead of attacking Taliban, they freed terrorist....

These US warships have played major role in deploying peace in Kashmir.....

After 2001 WTC attack, US demolished taliban regime in Afghanistan which was a big support for the terrorist group in Kashmir...

USS Carl Vinson & USS Theoder Roosevelt had done great work in demolishing taliban regime...

We must be thankful to these great USS warships....because of them we are witnessing a peace in Kashmir!

Bunch of jokers

Those who complain about USS Nimitz are bunch of jokers.
For TamilNadu to reach its potential, these so called Dravida parties need to be booted away.
USS Nimitz is the largest Nuclear warship in the world and it has over 2000 sailors, soldiers and other sundry support staff working there.

Chances of Chennai getting Nuclear radiation are similar to something bad happening in Kalpakkam and the radiation trickling to Chennai.

These politicians are just striving for cheap publicity.

sir:

You are absolutely correct. The Leftists are a Bunch of Jokers who want to comment on everything just because the UPA government survives due to them.

They are the hypocrites of the highest prder. NIMITZ is simply fantastic and represents the progress of Democracy and free enterprise--To which the left is allergic.

The Communists should stop barking all the time and do something constructive for the poor of India.

You are right. The left parties are just doing drama to gain votes. If they are so much concern about the people's safety then why are they supporting UPA govt. at centre who gave permition to the ship to be dock at Indian port. Then why their (WB) cheif minister visited US for business opportunity in their state. He should have gone only to china. Will they protest if chinese ship visited Indian port who is more viewed as our enemy?

To get media attention
by Senu Philip on Jul 02, 2007 10:19 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Politician are making unnecessay comments regarding the ship, it is really not good. Ship have arrived on the invitation of India goverment, I hope everthing was evaluated before inviting the same. Regarding the Nuclear Powered Ship and around 100s of staff are working around the clock on the ship. As as western country like US, they are very much concerned about their staffs who are working on the ship and they will take all necessay precaution to prevent their staffs from radiation and other stuffs. I am sure that if radiation spreads then it will also effect the US guys who are working but chances are very less and rare. Therefore no won't be any nuclear spileage!!.

What I am or we should be concerned is the security of the nation, if a military ship is arriving on our ports, we should be on our feets around the clock to monitor them. I hope rather than this it's nothing else.

Hope the readers agree

Thanks
Delta

All those political parties who oppose the docking of the US aircraft carrier based on radiation effects are cowards. they wanted to gain cheap popularity by raising baseless issues. tell plainly that u dont like the US carrier to be docked in Chennai, but dont mislead people that it carries a radiation hazard. there are hundreds of navy personnel working and travelling in that ship they better knew that it is safe and radiation free. please stop your cheap politics
