The main issue is SECURITY.... and not radiation
by bharath gandhi on Jul 02, 2007 11:33 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont know when you people are going to understand the way it works in politics... They need not always mean something when they say something.
The real issue with USS Nimitz is our NATIONAL SECURITY and not Radiation. Every one knows that the U.S is keen on the safety of its citizens, and since 2000 crew are on board, the safety of the ship cannot be over emphasised. But, every one also know that the U.S is a power savvy country and it looks for every nook and corner of the world to station its troops, and not to mention, Indian waters had long been in its radar. Now, that a fighter carrier is at our shores, we could only imagine of the possibilities of what the U.S has in mind. Remember the last time when a fighter carrier was docked at chennai, a fighter aircraft flew above sensitive security installations like the kalpakkam nuclear power plant despite being warned not to do so. and what did we do when it happened ? Simply watch it return to its base and the U.S brushing aside the incident as an unworthy to mention sort... but what did they do when George Bush arrived in India, they made every Indian delegates, like Gopal krishna Gandhi, to be sniffed by their security dogs, despite India providing a tight security cover. The insult to our nation delegates aside, look at the concern they have on their security even in foreign shores... and you people don't even know the importance of the security of our shores.... 'Left might be bad, but at times its a necessary EVIL

You are right!

It could even plan strategies for its future. Be it India or China. It might even have powerful portable antennas on it or equipments that msy allow sattelites to take high resolution pictures etc.

I think the US should be our friend and given the way our netas goern our country we should outsource some governance to americans and also allow american military base on our soil.

Then China will be wary of us.

Why we r in confusion in identifying friends?

Remember, US is our friend, not PAKISTAN....
Whenever we trust PAKISTAN, they backstabbed us..

One qustion to leftist

Why they r not condemning China when China supplied nuclear technology to PAKISTAN?

It is absurd protest from Left Parties, AIADMK and MDMK...

Can't they understand that there are 6000 people (US Citizens) on board Nimitz... and America will never put all 6K people at risk at one go...

If the nincompoops could understand that much, then they would be called 'right', not 'left.
Now they are acting like they are in the 'middle'.

Commies are Bunch of Jokers

The Commies would have welcomed the ship if it is from China. Even if the ship has any nuclear radiation, they would have welcomed it, if it is from China.

Do we have the statistics of marine damages due to nuclior reactor? Do we have the statistics of civilian damages? Without all these how can we welcome this ship? Chennai politicians and allowing the danger of reactor in their vicinity. Very bad. Who knows how many will get affected?

National security must be the concern
by balakrishnan varrier on Jul 02, 2007 11:06 AM  Permalink

A large number of our politicians, camouflaged as socio-intelligentsia, try to fool the common man by bypassing the real subject and creating a sense of fear through unverified and irrelevant assertions.
The ship has American crews and the US Congresmen are always sensitive of their citizens' personal security unlike our politicians. If there are chances of radiation, it must first affect the crew. The fact that around 5,000 men and women are there aboard the ship itself is a safety cover for the outer world.
What our politicians must be concerned and should raise voice about, is the defence security of our country. The Vasco de Gama (Portuigese), the Dutch and the East India Company (British)anchoring history should not be repeated in a different way the docking of USS Nimitz at Chennai. But no one seems to be concerned about that.
It simply shows that the politicians are cashing on the Nimitz visit to get publicity mileage.

Welcome USS Nimitz!
by prayaag pathare on Jul 02, 2007 11:01 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We should welcome USS Nimitz. Remember they r our guest and they should b treated in good spirits. Regarding safety the US govt. is more concern about their staff and people around & they realy care. The ship is in service since 1975 & according to my knowledge no radiation/ related incident has happened! It show the safety standards. These political parties should help people in need instead of wasting time in protesting america now & then. If they care so much for people then why they are supporting the UPA govt. from outside which is responsible for permmiting the ship in INDIAN territorial waters?

so what? It was a past.......

Now, we r having new good relationship with US...

Remember, when indian airoplane was hijacked to kandahar, what indian government had done at that time? instead of attacking Taliban, they freed terrorist....

These US warships have played major role in deploying peace in Kashmir.....

After 2001 WTC attack, US demolished taliban regime in Afghanistan which was a big support for the terrorist group in Kashmir...

USS Carl Vinson & USS Theoder Roosevelt had done great work in demolishing taliban regime...

We must be thankful to these great USS warships....because of them we are witnessing a peace in Kashmir!

I could not understand the purpose of news you have pasted her? You meant to say that US & China both r enemy? maybe? But you see it is US who had extended the hand of friendship with India long ago. Because world cannot ignore our nation's growing power b it economy or millary. US has many time said that India is their strategic partner/natural allies. It may have been then president Richard Nixon's policy against us. But after that things have changed. Now the US views china as a treat. Today china continue to mordernise they PLA. Why? If we can talk peace with our great enemy pakistan then why not with America who helps us. I think u will have some relatives studing & working in US and take pride in that. Keep yourself well informed. Thanks.
