Signs of development?
by Rehman SH on Jul 01, 2007 05:59 PM  Permalink

Sufferings are common whether we are materially developed or not. The only difference is we get pure air, potable water and clean natural food when we live close to natural sorroundings. We get impure air, dirty water and fast (chemical) food when we live in (materially) developed sorroundings. Developmental attractions in cities making the situation worse by pulling population from all over the world. The situation can be sensed especially in dry summers and wet rainy. All the great people of this society should atleast try to understand, what we basically need. This is not air, water and food? For the sake of secondary and tertiary needs we are cutting off the routes of primary needs. The only way to get rid of all the calamities in future is by reducing size of concrete structures and increasing the size of multistoried diverse vegetation both in cities and on farm sites.

If it was Gujarat, the media must have asked for the resignation of the cheif minister for anything(Drought, floods, any criminal activity),amazing that after so many incidents of Vidarbha Farmers' suicide till today, the media is keeping mum as expected!

mumbai (formerly bombay)
by inkypinky on Jul 01, 2007 05:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

mumbai (formerly bombay) is becoming one of the horror stories which had been predicted many times before - mega-cities with astronomical overpopulation, gigantic slums, crime & gangs, infrastructure collapse, terrorism, decay and ruin.

to save mumbai (formerely bombay) military administrator with overwhelming powers must be appointed and advised by competent scientists, architects & city planners for at least 25 years....all politicians must be sacked forthwith

BMC need not look for any outsiders help....better reference is available in their very backyard i.e. the south mumbai, drainage for which was designed and constructed by englishmen are efficiently working for the nearly the same amount of water that suburbs receive.... so if any BMC wala reading this.... JUST OPEN UP THOSE OLD BLUEPRINTS OF THE SOUTH MUMBAI DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND IMEPLEMENT IT IN THE SUBURBS....our lives will be much better.... definately a SASTA SUNDAR AUR KIFAYTI soution....

Idiot.
In India many people seems to think mlitary will solve their all problems. Try to understand Indian Miliraty system is as corrupted as our political system.

Its only the professional bodies with world class determined professionals can solve these kind of problems. But they will not be given the full power. Always political parties will interfere and make them failed

its not ghattis who creating rukkas but the people who come 2 bombay 2 increase per capita density of the area by population which means more usage of roads , more usage of trains , n mainly excessive usage of drainage system thus they are getting chokked

anyways am not a ghatti myself but y blam them

Muncipal Officers Together With Contractors Gobble Up 90% Of The Funds.
by Indur Chhugani on Jul 01, 2007 03:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Out of the total funds allotted, what must be the percentage, actually utilised, for better of Civic amenities ... My guess is 10% ... the balance 90% is gobbled up by Muncipal Officers and contractors... How is it that the roads get washed away after just 1 day of heavy showers ... Were the Roads made with specifications in mind, that the weather will be like October to April forever... because the roads were made during those months ... The contractors and Muncipal officers work hand in glove to make rotten roads.

It is time the citizens of India, shed their timid attitude towards, disgusting conduct
of the Politicans, police, the bureacrats and the judiciary ... the confidence being felt within Indians, due to rapid economic progress, should also be felt in other areas... like
confidence to usher in change.

What we require is a strong peoples movement to take on the arrogant, corrupt Government officials and politicians, Rogues in the Police force and the Judiciary... JOIN in NOW

dont blame current management..
by Suhrud Godbole on Jul 01, 2007 03:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

all i wnat to say is that dont blame the current management.. blame the greedy people who reclaimed the land in mumbai years back...

there are areas in mumbai which are at a lower level than the sea.. these places will get flooded.. u cant do anything about that..

yes, surely they can pump out the water with more efficiency.. but tahts all that they can do..

water-logging is going to happen.. there's no point cribbing about that.. all we can do is not stay in those areas...

but one thing is sad.. yesterday i was stranded at home all day, and while i was looking out of my window, i couldnt imagine that this is the city that we call the economic capital of india.. really sad..
